So yesterday we had a situation come up with a Wild Magic card being added to a player's spell through the likes of Mighty-Gro or Bedazzlement.

Mighty-Gro
Quality - Primal
Heal 2 HP. Then, if you are the weakest player, add a random card from your hand to your spell.

Bedazzlement
Delivery - Illusion
Target: Foe of your choice
Roll Power
5-9 1 damage, and you may add a random card from your hand to your spell
10+ As above, but you may choose the card instead

For the sake of not potentially discarding a large portion of the deck, we agreed at the time that the first card flipped would satisfy the Wild Magic. But really it seems to me like the player should first choose a spell component and then reveal cards until they hit that type. Any thoughts?

Yes, you should choose which component type it is, then draw from the deck.

Yeah selection of component type is must before drawing it from the deck. So first choose which component type it is.
