Cryptozoic is now taking applications for volunteer staff at Orlando Open House 2012 in Orlando, FL. We are looking for two - three local volunteers that are fluent in all of our current board games. The Orlando Open House will be held October 25th in Orlando, FL.

The application window begins on Tuesday, September 4th 2012, and will close on Tuesday, September 11th 2012. This staff call is on a first come, first serve basis and will close early if enough applications are submitted.

Here is some useful information:


There will be no sponsorships to this event. We are looking for local volunteers only. Neither flight nor any lodging will be covered.


No costs will be covered.


Board Game Staff will be expected to wear nice, clean blue jeans (no holes, tatters or rips) and the grey Cryptozoic Event Staff shirt. You will be issued one Cryptozoic Staff shirt if you do not currently own any. If you currently own the grey Cryptozoic Staff shirt, you are required to bring it and wear it.

If you fail to meet the dress code, you will be asked to remedy the situation and if you cannot, you will not be asked to attend other shows on behalf of Cryptozoic.


IF YOU ARE APPLYING TO STAFF THIS EVENT: You are required to know the basic rules to all Cryptozoic's current board and card games and will be asked to play or demo them continuously throughout the event. You will be asked simple rules questions for each board game in the application form if you are applying for this position.
You must be 18 years of age or older.
You must volunteer your time for the entire scheduled event.
Able to demo from 2:00pm to 9:00pm.
Able to lift moderately heavy objects and perform other physically demanding jobs relating to tournament setup.
Must be friendly and have a positive attitude.
Willing and able to assist the event staff as required with additional duties, which may include setup and break down of your demo area.
Must be able to respond to emails within 48 hours.


You will bring appropriate attire for the event.
You will conduct board game demos for this event with an hour break for lunch at noon.
There will be no Cryptozoic staff at this event: You must be able to bring the games we supply to you with you to this event.

What is NOT paid for?

Food (Each person will receive either lunch or one small stipend each day).
Taxi fares, bus fares, parking, etc.
Additional costs (room service, movies, laundry, etc).
Any travel or lodging expense.

Hotel Info:

No hotel is covered for this event. We are looking for local volunteers or those willing to pay for their own rooms only.

Judge Testing:

There will be no Judge testing at this event.

Important Notes:

This is not like a vacation, this is like work. It can be very rewarding and valuable, but it is hard work.
If you are not chosen, do not take it personally. There are a limited number of staff spots available.


If your application form is not completely filled out, your application will be denied.
