Professional card slinger Gerry Thompson dropped by the Cryptozoic offices to get a sneak peak at HEX: Shards of Fate and he regales the tale of bunny beatdowns.

Good article. It is a benefit not having to pay for card and online based product. And its very nice to fire up a game anytime vs having to rely on a game night or RL friends to be around.

a token faction , o joy !
but at least it's on an online game , and the tokens make themselves so to speak .

also I would like to know if drafting will be for "in game" currency as well , or for real money only .
6-7 $ doesn't seem like much , but it's still going to ammount for a lot at the end of the week if there's no in game possibility to pay for it.

They wont be, they have been pretty clear on the keeping pvp and pve separate, so unless you buy stuff on the AH (For probably a LOT) if you want to pvp, gotta pay

outch , missed that whole PVP separate from PVE ...
that 500 $ get 1 free draft a week funding thingy seems more and more enticing now xD .
you get 300 $ worth of drafts alone each year xD presuming you will like draft ... and if they do it half as fun as wow draft is .. o dear wallet .

Actually you have a 250$ tier (Pro Player) that also gives you the "1 free draft per week" perk. As you said it takes less than a year to make that money back, and that is not even counting all the other stuff you get.

yeah , but the perks for grand king are waaay too good to pass up if you have the money to pay .
it's basically perks for 4 other tiers tied in together

I know this is a sample size of one, but seems like the shin-hare token deck may be too strong. Sweeping the draft, and only losing to a mirror? Are there balance issues here, or maybe the format is just too new.

No one wants a single broken archetype right out the gate. I am sure they have a Future Future League of some sort and are testing all the deck strategies. The similarities here make transitioning from other competitive TCG games really easy, and hopefully if the beta sees an overwhelming win percentage of a single archetype they will edit or remove cards.

Hopefully.

Keep in mind that he just top8'd a Magic pro tour. So he's pretty good. That and we have no idea how well he pulled.

Why point out that its a sample size of 1 then go on to speculate about the imbalance of the draft environment.

The shin'hare rush archetype is a bit overexposed and highly successful in what we've seen so far, compared to other types (two draft articles and the sample game video, with a combined record of 6-1 and the only loss coming down to an unlikely bad topdeck). But it would be nuts to try and diagnose any balance issues based on that sample size.
