Some people where complaining that the HEX website has no favicon (and the forum has the default vBulletin favicon).
So I made a favicon real quick: http://hextcgnet.s3.amazonaws.com/hex.png
Available in ICO format: http://hextcgnet.s3.amazonaws.com/favicon.ico

Usage:
Put this before the </head> of the HTML code / template.

<link href="http://hextcgnet.s3.amazonaws.com/favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" />

Alternative versions:
http://hextcgnet.s3.amazonaws.com/hex-v2.png

http://hextcgnet.s3.amazonaws.com/hex-v3.png

http://hextcgnet.s3.amazonaws.com/hex-v4.png

I just made those real quick. If anyone has any good idea for a 1616px sized .ico I would love to create that. Or if you have the needed skills (can be learned on the net in a few minutes) I would love to see some other alternative. The goal is to create a favicon for HEX TCG.

The first one seems pretty decent but I don't think the favicon is what's on their minds right now. :)

That's why I helped them by making one. And copy-pasting the code is like 5 minutes tops if you count checking out the files in GIT and trying to find out where the </head> is. :)

Legally, they can't use this.

Well its not that they couldnt its just they would have to contact him and get his permission and a signed statement regarding the transfer of rights over the image and a waiver stating its free and blah blah blah blah legal BS to make sure they dont get sued.

There is a TON of red tape behind something like this.

Even if he didn't have permission to shrink their own image? (Actual question.)

Edit: Who's to say that they didn't already do the same thing and had it saved in their system and just haven't launched the favicon?

Well of course, but in most cases companies shy away from any fan-made ideas or graphics.

They probably do, I bet it's different than the one presented here. If folks are wanting to add a favicon to hex links in their bookmarks, there's a Firefox add-on that will let you do that if you're running that. I'm sure there are equivalents for other browsers:

First of all, I ask nothing at all in exchange, and they can do whatever they wish with the favicon. It's (hastly made) a temporary substitute until it is fully accepted or a better version is made in-house. Because there where people complaining about the missing favicon (search the forums).

That is only a simple sign-and-return thing. And they do it like 100+ cases with all the freelancers that gave artwork to them for the cards.

Well, that would only be problematic if I would have put that to some public license or offered it to Wizards of the Coast, or something like that.

‘Launching’ a favicon is 5 minutes tops, both in case of a vBulletin forum (this one) and for any other website/webapplication. Seriously that is not something company like CZE would call a meeting for.

I wasn't trying to say it's hard to put up a favicon, or that you did anything wrong. I was just wondering if it really would be that big of a deal for them to use it. Sorry if you felt like I was attacking you.

Nah, it's ok. I did not take is as an insult. Your points are valid, and I totally agree, that for them it might be a bit more complicated to use my favicons. But then again I's not impossible, and rationally there is 0 chance I would sue them if they use it. I do believe in their success, I even made a quite generous contribution to their cause (it's in my sig), so I really want HEX to be the top1 TCG as soon as possible.

Sidenote: I'm saying all this after winning a Game Day with Jund today in ‘the other TCG’ (read: Magic The Gathering).
