Hi everyone,

Just curious as to everyones' favorite cards, and why they're your favorite. Quite a few cards have been released thus far, so there should be a lot of variety.

I have to say, my current fave is probably Pack Raptor. It's a swiftstriker which is relevant in combat, but primarily, it increases your chances of drawing a threat (by increasing the quantity in your deck), and each additional Pack Raptor effectively becomes an above-curve creature (the second is a 2/2 for 1, the third is a 3/3 for 1 and so on). While removal will still rain on your parade, I could see it being a competitive-constructed worthy troop. If you manage to get a couple out early, soon the odds of you drawing one will be high enough that you should be getting one every ~2 turns, on average.

I'll give an honorable mention to Kraken's Tentacle. It's a 1 mana troop that pseudo-removes their best creature. That's just fantastic for control - it comes out early enough that it can stop early aggression, and it's still relevant late game. It'll also work well in a tempo deck - you'll exhaust their creature on their turn, then attack without worrying about the block from that particular creature. Lather, rinse, repeat.

What's your fave though?

This. Not even close.

Also, you do realize that the tentacle can't be put in your deck and is only created by The Kraken, right?

EDIT: Oh and you asked why it is my favourite. Well, mostly cause I want to build a deck around it and I see a lot of potential in it.

Oh boo. Didn't notice the token rarity. It would've been so brilliant, but I guess too brilliant. :-P

I like EoC - just going to be interesting if there's good enough ramp and a slow enough format to support it in competitive. It'll definitely rock some socks in casual and PvE though.

The card that made me fall in love with HEX was Spectral Assassin. I have many loves even just among the cards we've seen to date, but SA was my first love.

It demonstrates just how much manipulation of hidden information can be incorporated into the game. Many cards do things that would be prohibitively annoying to do with physical cards. But Spectral Assassin does something that would be absolutely, strictly impossible with physical cards.

My second favorite card to date is the Mayor from the Kraken's Lair dungeon. The implications of that card in terms of PVE are really exciting. Flavor text that subtly dictates gameplay with out-of-band story and game consequences? Are you kidding? That's *awesome*.

This will be a staple for any human inspire deck.

In terms of cards I want to _play_ with, though, Replicator's Gambit. I will make that card work, mark my words.

My favorite card would have to be Zombie Plague:

..but once I figure out how to get unlimited resources, I will be combo killing people with:

And lastly, I gotta give a shout out to this champion because I am a HUGE PA fan:

If we get some good deck manipulation - or, heaven fobid, a tutor - it'd go great with my beloved Pack Raptor. Put it back out, you not only get 7 8/8 troops (assuming you don't have any out already), but you then get 28 copies to put into your deck which would then greatly increase your odds of drawing more. <3

Of course, if you get the Replicated troop out almost any half decent troop will do. :-P

I love all the cards, that are impossible in a physical TCG, like "Sabotage", "Pack Raptor", etc.

But my favorite is: http://hex.potion-of-wit.com/img/cards/ZombiePlague-215x300.png

Too bad, that at 8 cost, you won't be releasing the Kraken too often. :D

Maybe they'll make an Action titled, "Release the Kraken" which can put the kraken out for cheaper :D

Would be a decent finisher in a SW ramp deck (I'm assuming the community will probably adopt WBDSR for naming colors, rather than the colors themselves and the old WUBRG Magic style).

I don't see a deck being built around Zombie Plague, but I do see it played in tons of decks. And Time Bug... I doubt this card will be viable in any competitive deck.

I don't know, but with all these duplicators we have seen, it could be interesting

jaxsonbateman

Zombie Plague doesn't really need a 'build around'. If it were just one use a turn, it wouldn't be that good, but because it ramps up it's likely that it'll eventually give you at least one zombie. If you get a single zombie out of it, you've effectively gotten an on curve creature from the card, while also weakening a bunch of other cards. That's pretty good, and card advantage, seeing as the ZP sticks around. It belongs in a control deck, but then the issue is - is it the slow card advantage gain too slow against aggressive decks?

Actually, now that I think about it, I wonder what the sideboard situation is going to be for constructed... hopefully there are sideboards. They have a big impact on particular matchups.

Time Bug is interesting. Extra turn effects are pretty strong - but are they going to be worth card disadvantage? That's the question.

I think that Zombie Plague will be a great sideboard card versus heavy aggro decks. I could possibly see a few copies main decked in a control deck.

Speaking of control decks, I definitely plan on playing Soul Marble in the first control deck I plan on building. Layaway creatures are extremely useful in control, especially when you can resource dump into it at the end of your opponents turn.

Zombie Plague is very solid all-around legendary. Not gamebreaking, but strong. I am considering it for Blood-Ruby PvE deck with some Scourge Knights to slow down enemy until I have enough burning damage to shoot him down like a stray dog.

It also combo rather nicely with Necessary Sacrifice.

Are Constants being treated as Unique? Getting multiples of of Zombie Plague in play would be devastating.

I've said it time and time again, but Rot Sniper (http://hextcg.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/VENNEN_2560x1600.jpg) is my absolute favorite card -- although it hasn't been spoiled yet ;)

As far as spoiled cards go, Life Siphon (http://hextcg.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/LifeSiphon_Gear_Web.png) (with the Legendary buff) is up there, too.

Ohhhhh, trust me. I know. :) First thing I plan on building is a Wilde/Blood Shin'hare deck with Mushwocky, with Murders in case of, for example, Vamp King, etcetera. :D And then a Glorfenburn deck. And then... we'll see.

I love Cassandra, even if she is solely PvE. Threshold fixing for my three favorite colors, on a customizable and hard to deal with body(when fully equipped, of course) that makes your other spells passively heal? She can easily compliment so many strategies and just looks like a blast.

Inspiration Engine. I hope that it is viable in competitive play, despite its high variance. It just seems like so much fun "rolling the dice" each turn to see what you get. A great win condition.
