Latest Update: October 16, 2013

There is a nice list of Hex info links in these forums, but I was hoping there would eventually be some place to consolidate and promote other community member's sites. Unfortunately, nothing so far has been made, so I have decided to do it myself. I will try to keep things in alphabetical order. If you would like your site/etc. to be inculded, please post in this thread with this format:

Hey Griss, thanks for getting this thread going. Been reading your wordpress throughout the week, need to make an account so I can comment still though.

If you don't mind could you add my youtube channel to the list as well? Planning to branch out once I get comfy, but excited about just doing videos for the time being.

I will be covering Hex on my channel upon release of the alpha/beta (as appropriate) - depending on the actual 'feel' of the game (which I can't know prior to release honestly), it will likely end up filling 1-4 weekly slots. It will run parallel to existing and future series from other games.

What is the RSS and how to use it

In the last days the HEX related channels\sites\blogs multiply themself faster than the Shin'hare, and i lost the control over them. I decided to try an RSS reader, and it's works perfectly!
With the RSS reader you can subscribe to any webpage or even to a youtube channel, and collect the news on one place - so you don't have to keep crawling all of the pages every day. It's works pretty same as you subscribe to different video channels on the youtube: you have a page where you see all of your added sites, and a notification if there is new content from that site.

I tried more RSS readers, and i chosen the Feedly (http://www.feedly.com/index.html). It's a Firefox plugin only (and have ios and android versions), not a standalone application, so it's very handy for me. However, the RSS readers works very similary, if you dont use Firefox, you can found another one fast.

The feedly at this moment store your channels in your google account. It's a very useful thing if you keep monitoring the news from more devices, because the sync between them.

After the installing the Feedly plugin, the fastest way to add the news sites, if you go to the wanted page, and in the favorites menu you press the "subscribe to this site". You create a category, and add the site, thats all. Or you can add the sites with the RSS link manually if you click to the magnifying glass.

You get a new button for the feedly on your browse bar where from you can access your library fast.

Here is an example for the RSS link:

http://thedailyhexagame.wordpress.com/feed/

If you want to add a youtube channel, thats a bit more tricky, you have to use this method:

http://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/seriousbsnsgames/uploads

where you can replace the "seriousbsnsgames" to any youtube account name what you want to follow.

(however, the Feedly is not perfect. In the last few days since i am using, once frozen already with some refreshing message, and only the plugin uninstall\install helped on him. But since the sites stored on the server, was no loss)

For the upcoming sites you can add www.hexscrub.com. If anyone is familiar with wowtcgscrub it will be along the same lines focusing on the humorous sides to the game, some satire, generally working with the more fun (i.e. non-competitive) decks. I will probably be also focusing on fun ways to go through the dungeons.

We have recently added an important new feature to the Hex Wiki (http://hextcg.gamepedia.com/): A List of Fansites (http://hextcg.gamepedia.com/List_of_fansites).
This feature is an important step in making the wiki becoming a cornerstone for the community. We invite all other webmasters and community owners to come in and add/update their information.
The biggest advantage for webmasters is that your information is visible immediately. We also have room for more information. For the OP, it has the advantage that he no longer has to update this thread.
Detailed usage instructions are at the bottom of the page (click here (http://hextcg.gamepedia.com/List_of_fansites#Adding your Site)).

Find the list here:
http://hextcg.gamepedia.com/List of fansites

I hope everyone is willing to hop on board.

Hex Vault - http://www.hexvault.com/

I'm in the midst of putting together Hex Vault, a Hex: Shards of Fate information/fan site - blogs, articles, YouTube videos, Con reports, tournament coverage, etc. It'll be a week or so before the final logos, website art, etc. are finished and the various sites launch officially, however, these are all of the places you'll be able to interact with Hex Vault:

Website: http://www.hexvault.com/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HexVault
Twitter: @HexVault https://www.twitter.com/HexVault
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/HexVault
Twitch.tv: http://www.twitch.tv/hexvault

I need an assist from the Hex community though. To get the Facebook URL I want (edit: Achievement Unlocked!), I need 25 likes. To that end, I'll give the first 50 people who "Like" the Facebook page 4 Set 1 Boosters as soon as I can after we're officially in Beta. In addition, I'll send two random people from that group $50 (USD) through PayPal to put towards a Slacker Backer pledge!

Thanks in advance!
Colin

Hi

This is my simple, yet functional, Hex TCG database.

http://hextcg.exchange.no/

Current features

- Build and share decks

Also working on:
- Booster draft with simulated computer AI
- Deck statistics, graphs and simulations (draw hands/mulligan)
- Deck saving to database with user login
- Comments and rating of decks and cards
- Gem and equipment support

Features are added daily :)

I haven't clicked through them all... (don't really have the time), but mind noting which ones don't have hex content on them so he can move them down to at least the "upcoming hex content" list? Main category I found that has that problem is the blogs, though honestly - I don't see most of those producing much 'worthwhile' content until the game actually launches (honestly, even on my youtube channel, I'm just biding my time until the game launches so I can get actual 'core content' for it in my rotation - outside of Friday Night Hex)

Back from a week + in Europe, sorry for the delayed reply.

I plan to go through the list again in August to differentiate between active (at least 1 post in previous month) to inactive sites. For the time being the current list has blogs/sites with at least one Hex related piece of content. Though obviously there are some with more and some with lest. I'm trying to minimize the amount of editorialization on my part, but I do want to make the list a bit more useful.

Thanks for the feedback. And I've updated the list up to this point.

08-06-2013, 04:01 AM
I agree... a bit of a shame... honestly I think having an anchor thread like this there, is good for raising awareness of fan sites... the traffic in general discussion is a LOT higher than it is in this section, and as an organized list people are more likely to check it out (less likelihood of the links being unconfirmed or low quality)

Icepick
08-06-2013, 05:36 AM
It's a little disappointing - my traffic has dropped to basically zero since we've been forced to stop posting in General, except for a few small spikes of 20 or so people when a new article goes up - for example, over the last 12 hours I've only had 6 people visit the CH. Reddit is apparently a lost cause for site promotion as judging from the top dozen or so links there people are going through and just downvoting everything that isn't directly from CZE (and basically nobody reads the "New" page) so there's not many options left for us when it comes to promotion now.
I know the game isn't even out yet so it's not really a huge deal yet, but I suspect the reason most people have made sites at this point is to become decently established before the game is released. Kind of hard to do that when your only avenues of promotion don't get any traffic.

Definitely true... I'm lucky in that I have a small established subscriber-base from outside of hex - so my content will be able to move forward regardless, but even still, the Hex page is a major source of traffic for all of us, and it does feel like our avenues are extremely limited. By limiting growth of fan sites, it also limits the growth of the game.

Alzorath
08-07-2013, 12:49 AM
I honestly do feel that leaving this thread in General Discussion would be best for the community... as long as it's maintained, it's a good source of information and resources, most people wouldn't normally find amidst the chaos that this section will become (especially upon launch). I've been tempted to approach the mods about this, but yea - it'd be overstepping my bounds.

People much prefer a condensed list where they can find the info they want.

And by endorsing a healthy 'fan content' - the game as a whole will generally do better... it's not advertising that drives games, but fans. <snip> Almost went into a discussion on 'marketing these days' lol</snip>

The question is, which moderator moved it originally... because that would honestly be the best person to petition for moving it back, at least initially.

I talked to stoked about this last week. Granted we were all pretty distracted at the time, I'll send him a message because he seemed pretty open to the idea. The thread really doesn't serve any purpose here, it doesn't even really need to exist if it's gonna stay on this sub-forum.

Thanks to funktion's help I've been able to trim down the inactive/unrelated Hex sites, so the list should be somewhat more useful. I'll talk to Yoss again about moving the list back to main page.

The thread serves a very important purpose here. It is a consolidated list of fansites, blogs, etc.

While it may not seem as important now, when the forum starts increasing in activity, it will be hard to find individual sites without clicking through each 'update' thread.

Think of it as an Index.

The downside of a "fan section" - as I have stated elsewhere: It becomes a "circle jerk" of content creators, not a location people look for content about the community.

You may find an interesting product in a magazine, amidst the normal things you would be reading... but you aren't going to go pick up a catalog of purely advertisements in hopes of finding something 'interesting'.

As previously stated elsewhere:

We are in the process of updating forum guidelines and prepping moderators to enforce them. This isn't an instant process, but I can assure you that actively cross-posting to increase page views will be dealt with. Repeated abuse will be met with a vacation from the forums.

We have our own plans for what we want to do for fan sites, but I'd love to hear what the fan site community has to say on the subject. Anyone interested in sparking this conversation should start a new thread on the subject.

...I think we can do a much better job implementing it. We have several community programs in the works for once we transition into Alpha and beyond, including plans for supporting our awesome fansites.

CZE has their own plans for how they want to help fansites and I'd assume that's why they separated the forums in this manner to begin with.

I disagree with this on several accounts.

1. I actually frequent this forum and view any articles that interest me. I'm sure I'm not the only person who pops in here to see what's new.

2. I do pick up catalogues of purely advertisements in the hopes of finding something 'interesting'. Example: Ikea catalogue, ThinkGeek, etc.

3. If you have content people are interested in, eventually people will gravitate towards it. It may not be immediate, it may be slow, but it will happen.

1. Exception to the rule sadly. It's very uncommon for a general populous. There has yet to be a single game that I've found with a 'fan site' section, where the fan site section was actually a worthwhile venue for a content creator to gather a following outside of other content creators. (ie the term "circle jerk")

2. Those are all merchandise catalogues, not advertising catalogues. You open an ikea catalogue looking for furniture, you open thinkgeek looking for quirky gadgets, etc. You could argue "you open the fan site section for game related content" - this however is unfortunately not true. You want strategy? you go to the strategy section. You want fanfiction/art? you to to the story & lore section. Etc. etc. The logic behind coming to a 'fan site' section, would be like going to the yellow pages to find a piece of furniture - yes, you may eventually find it - but you'll have better luck looking at an ikea catalogue.

3. Anyone who has experience with marketing, will outright tell you this is essentially a utopia level falsehood. Quality is only one component of a much larger group of factors on the success of a product, website, etc. "The cream doesn't always float to the top, marketing isn't physics."

I have played SC2, MTG and LoL.
However, my main focus will be on Hex when it is released, and plans to participate in various tournaments, if I can compete at that level
On the stream I will comment on English and have the a webcam on.

When alplha is released I will stream for about 5 hours maybe more in 4-5 days.
I'm looking forward to this game and I'm sure this game can be huge in the e-sports as well as a community game

Since we're getting close to massive stream time with Hex Alpha and forward, I'll toss my own channel into the list:

http://twitch.waywardwolves.com/

Still debating whether to use a microphone and maybe a webcam as well. I'll admit I'm not a frequent streamer though (mostly because I'm too introverted). ^^;

Generally, I'll try to stream at 1280x720p@60fps or 1920x1080@30fps with a CBR bitrate of 3131kbps + 160kbps AAC. I typically stream whatever I'm in the mood for and whenever I'm I feel like it (i.e. no set schedule).

And yes, I do random giveaways all over the place. Everywhere from SteamGifts to random Hey-you-want-this? type stuff. Very random. :)

And to all those who still read this post that's been updated recently, I may eventually do a giveaway for a Spectral Lotus Garden for one lucky follower. Currently an idea I'm playing around with.

Hey everybody my name is Tim Smith (MythicFishmom) and I will be streaming as much hot steamy hex as possible ( I may be "Sick" the day it comes out so I can stream all day when it comes out) I've played magic since I was 13 (Currently 23) went to a few ptqs and SCG opens and did fairly well, I enjoy brewing and building decks so I will rarely play "the best deck" because that's not fun nor entertaining to me. I am so excited to stream and hangout with all of you when it comes out. See you there!

not* I am not a chick the fishmom is an old handle I've carried with me long story

So another wonderful person looking to stream this game when it comes out, or at least opens into alpha as I believe they said it would not have an NDA attached to it. Either way I've been playing TCG's since I was about 13, I am now 28, so I have some experience under my belt being completely horrible at them. I have gotten significantly better and honestly can't wait for this game hopefully it'll be at least as fun as Magic.

Anyways for the stream as this is what it is about, I am going to stream this game both the PvE and PvP content because both look absolutely amazing. Ideally I will be improving and helping people build and running dungeons with other streamers as well as fans on my stream. I like the idea of both honestly, already have my stream up and running if you wanna check it out at the link above. Next stream day is going to be Thursday 9/12/13, as it is the next day I'm free, when the game comes out I'm gonna be streaming as close to 24/7 as my body can handle.

I look forward to seeing you guys on stream and in game this should be a fun adventure. Side note I'll be streaming rogue legacy and any other game people wanna see until this game comes out. Ideally I'll get a hearthstone key and I can play that some, but I am not holding my breath for it.

It's a really good webcam. Haven't had any issues with it. I'd wager it's probably the best consumer-level webcam on the market at the moment.

I've played many games! Such as MTG, I'm actively playing FFXIV, League of Legends, and I am a "Pro Player" Backer of Hex.

My plans for hex are to complete as much of the PvE Content as possible, participate in weekly drafts, and climb my way up the HexTCG Ladders. I also wish to talk some about deckbuilding, card combo's and various tips/tricks that I come across for fellow Hex Players. All while being interactive with viewers and seeing how my streaming goes and push that further aswell!

My Streaming Schedule will be most evenings 5-9 PM EST; Maybe longer, maybe shorter! It'll be flexible because of my job and other things that I might have going on.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let the community know I will be streaming the Hex Alpha fairly regularly, typically after 3 PM PST to 9 PM PST. I am a King Tier backer, so if you're sitting on the sidelines waiting to get let in and would like to watch after my tier is let in please feel free to come follow me on twitch. I'm at twitch.tv/agent_smashing . You can expect me and friends joking around on skype and talking about the game, a large variety of music, and a fun environment in chat to discuss the game together. I am also very attentive to the chat so if you have any questions I'm always happy to answer.

Looking forward to seeing you all in the alpha, lets make sure we get bugs over to the gang at Crypto ASAP! I'll be bumping this thread whenever I stream.

My site, HexBoss, is up & coming in development, and will focus primarily on the PvE side of Hex. In addition to a complete card directory, it will include walkthroughs for dungeons/raids, quest guides, class & mercenary builds, etc. My personal Twitch channel is set up, the YouTube channel will be in development, you can connect to me/HexBoss on Twitter already. Will be developing initial content once I get into Alpha (backed as Grand King, so should be in the early wave(s)).

It's got quite a bit of work left before it's ready, so please feel free to put it into the "Future/Upcoming" site section. Thanks all - looking forward to seeing you in Entrath! :)

Replying to say that my blog (HEX Champion) and my Youtube channel (Drake6k) are both active. I'm posting several videos a week of PVP commentary and deck building. Could I get my blog taken off the inactive sites list? Also, since I'm mostly doing videos right now, maybe get my Youtube channel listed? (It is slightly redundant though, as my blog is pretty much just a place to post videos and decklists).

For anyone looking to see full game content against real opponents, look no further.

http://www.youtube.com/user/ChannelRitter
http://www.youtube.com/user/ChannelBeepharoni

I currently have two full series for viewing, and a third with a deck tech and 2 videos to check out. Each series features a spicy brew made a little off the beaten path, and played out against real opponents with no sugar coating or holding back. New players will appreciate the strategy discussions and decision making commentary, and more seasoned CCG veterans will immediately appreciate the format and style the videos are recorded in (very closely mirroring the premium content provided on the most popular Magic the Gathering websites).

With almost 18 years of Magic the Gathering experience under my belt, these video sets will have a little something for everyone. I know that I am always waiting to see new content from my favorite professional players, and this is your chance to add another great viewing experience to your daily intake. With over 10 full videos already uploaded and more being added every day, sit back and enjoy some of the best Hex Alpha content available.
