View Full Version : Equipment Versatility Question

I was wondering if every piece of equipment is only usable with one specific card or there is some equipment which would effect a wider range. (example a glove which allows for every elf to receive +1/0 or helm that allows for all necrotic quick action spells to have a 10% chance to refund their resource costs.)

For set one, each piece of equipment only affects one card. But that will not always be the case.

Do you have a source that says it will not always be the case, Gwaer?

Also, there's at least one piece of gear which affects 2, those being Burns and Burns to the Ground - Staff of Conflagration, http://hextcg.gamepedia.com/Staff_of_Conflagration - increases both their damage by 1.

It was a question asked to cory in one of the live streams I think? I don't have a reference, only that I heard Cory say it.

I see this as only affecting one card still: Inferno. Granted, it's effects affect the other two cards, however, there is no effect if you don't have Inferno in play. I guess it all comes down to your viewpoint on the matter, it can go either way.

To be fair, you've made an assumption on how the equipment will work (I think - it was never confirmed that for an unrelated effect the card had to be in play, was it?). While that's definitely possible, if we then follow that same reasoning to the Replicator Gambit gloves (http://hextcg.gamepedia.com/Sleight_Of_Hands) then it could never be a quick action as it'd never be in play. :-P

If I were one of the devs and that was my intention with the staff, I certainly would've avoided any confusion and made the ability "as long as inferno is in play, burns and burn to the ground deal an additional point of damage".

AH! You bring up a good point. It would be nice for alpha access to come around so we could figure it out ourselves ;)

I guess having one piece of equipment would be kind of over powered in regards to effecting an entire race/ section of cards/ something along those lines. It does make a bit more sense to use an entire set to boost the specifications of your deck. Does anybody have an idea what happens you decide to change your deck? do you have to specifically change your equipment each time? or can you have a different set of equipment auto selected to each deck you pick? aka saving time when going back and forth. and from what i heard with over a thousand pieces of equipment that could take a while.

The way that it has been described so far seems to indicate that when you make a deck, part of the process involves attaching a merc to it, and spending whatever talent points he has unlocked, and equipping whatever gear you have. Then whenever you play that deck it will have that merc with those talents and that equipment.

I'm sure the wording will be clarified. But I believe each piece of equipment generally adds text to the card. So Replicator's Gambit works as expected. And the wording on the equipment for inferno should be updated. Princess Victoria's equipment to reduce the cost of the king is another example where it should probably indicate the princess must be in play.

So. . .I was watching the kickstarter video (where he kills the clown and sells his kidney) and i noticed one of the pieces of equipment on a legendary card. . which said "All spider troops. . . ." when this guy did not have any spider troop creation. . nor was he a spider troop himself. . .

So this leads me to believe that spider troops are a type of unit not a particular unit in itself which would all be effected by this equipment.

It's possible that it's an old equipment in need of an update, but it's also likely that a troop subtype will be "spider".

In case of the latter . . .
