So when do you think this would take place?

I'd guess around this time next year. The latest update says its convention season, perfect time for a convention imo.

Really?! I was hoping more like August 2013.

I would actually hope that it would be after launch next year.

1. It gives them time to plan.
2. Hopefully by then, the masses will make the first convention well populated.
3. It gives everyone time to plan to attend as well.

That'd be pretty short notice to plan a convention. But yeah it'd be nice :)

I think next summer is most likely. They'll probably have some new features to showcase in addition to upcoming sets by then.

Would be cool for this August, but it would give such little time for preparations, assessing ticket sales, knowledge of HEX for gamers, etc.

Give it until next year. By that time, the game will be out, the number of HEX players will have increased and it gives plenty of time for everyone to plan to attend.

HexCon pre launch would make no sense at all.

Summer next year will be my vote too. They need to build on a solid playerbase and full functional game before attempting hexcon. Also with the game under development and with so much work on their hands i doubt this summer will be the right time

I'm assuming 2014

Getting any convention space less that one year ahead of time is nearly impossible. If we go for the high end of 20,000, it may be two years out. Vegas has the most space available, but it is also the most booked.

Anyone have IRL experience with booking these thing in Vegas?

I'd guess summer or autumn 2014. I would be super super shocked if it was less than a year from now.

Lol @ this summer!

It will be 2014 at the earliest. My guess is they might try to run it concurrently with or consecutively to WoW NACC's.

I work at the convention center in Las Vegas. It really depends on the size and location that dictates how long in advanced one would need to book. Its hard to say how many attendees would even come to Hexcon. Smaller conventions like ones with 3-9k attendees can get booked relatively fast, cause they don't take up much space. I have seen them pop up with only a month or so notice.

I would advise against having a convention in Vegas in the months of May through September. It is way too hot. Though sadly those months are the months you get the best deals due to it being so slow. I will be sure to post a nice long thread when they do pick the date on some of the good spots to hit up when you are here.

This year is out of the question not because they wouldn't get the space but they will be way to busy getting the game finished. Spring of next year seems like a good enough time away.
