I don't know if anyone has ever played the Shandalar Mtg game it cam out in 1995, but I believe it would be cool if Hex took some ideas from them. I personally thought it was pretty far ahead of its time.

Dungeons/Castles:
a) You play one deck through the dungeon
b) Each mob you fight has a unique deck and life total
c) Each dungeon has certain static things from duel to duel
i) life total carries over
ii) no use of certain card types
iii) no use of certain color
iv) starting hand size
v) opponent starting with certain constants or troops in play
vi) opponent uses your deck against you/ swap decks and play with their deck (by far my least favorite yet most
skill testing)
d) Random treasure chests in the dungeon

Man all of this reminiscing makes me want to dig up the game and play it. Also from what I remember is there was a sealed option to play. Sealed is not quite draft but pretty fun itself. I guess I have figured out what I am playing for the next few months...

One of the guys I talked to at NACC said they played Shandalar and it was one of their influences. I expect them to have many things that will remind you of that game and more.
