View Full Version : Saturday Night Hex with Lackey in Hex IRC: Get your fix in before launch

If you haven't heard, Halfmind of Murder Inc. has incorporated all of the currently spoiled cards into a program called LackeyCCG, and HyenaNipples on Hex Shuffle did a writeup (http://hextcgshuffle.com/2013/07/24/play-hex-tcg-now-halfminds-hexlackeyccg-plug-in/) of how to set it up.

There's been a few of us in IRC, as well as others, playing over the last few weeks, but I wanted to set up a way to organize more games, so I'm inviting everyone to hop on IRC and come play with us on Saturdays, 7-10 PDT.

How do I play?
Go to Hex Shuffle's writeup of how to download and set up Lackey for Hex here: http://hextcgshuffle.com/2013/07/24/play-hex-tcg-now-halfminds-hexlackeyccg-plug-in/

If you have any trouble, feel free to hop on IRC (#hex on Gamesurge) and someone on should be able to help you. Try to get set up before Saturday so you're ready to go (and hey, there's always someone willing to play if you want to play before then).

Next, you might want to set up Skype (http://www.skype.com/en/download-skype/skype-for-computer/), or perhaps Ventrilo (http://www.ventrilo.com/), Teamspeak (http://www.teamspeak.com/), or Mumble (http://mumble.sourceforge.net/). If anyone has a server they'd be willing to let us use for this, please let me know and I can include it here.

Voice chat is good because unlike when the real Hex client is released, Lackey requires us to manually do every rule, just like playing a regular TCG, and it's far easier to do that through voice. No worries if you don't have a mic though, it's doable without.

Lastly, join Hex IRC either by clicking this link (https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.gamesurge.net/hex) [or joining #hex on irc.gamesurge.net with your favorite client. From there we'll be able to organize games and whatnot. Hopefully we'll have enough people to do a full 8-person draft tournament this weekend, and we can all get a taste for how this game's gonna play! I mean minus the fact that no one wants to play Pack Raptors because they're a PITA to do by hand.

I would like to just chip in here - this is worth checking out, but be warned, it is all manual, and based on honest playing. Also, we don't have all the fine details on the rules, so different people might have different rulings that they think are the correct ones.

But it is fun, and scratches the itch.

Lastly, to any devs who might look at this in a negative light - try it out yourselves and you will see how sub-optimal this is, and you will know just how badly we need the official version. Take it as flattery - you have created something so 'addictive' that people are willing to fake it because we need our fix so badly. Good luck with getting the game up and running - we need it! :D
