View Full Version : For PC, what OSes will be supported?

Just encountered another kickstarted game which doesn't support the OS I'm currently using on my home PC (Win XP). Is it known what OSes Hex will support? (And will that apply to the Alpha?)

I think you can assume that most new games won't support that far back.

So you're aware, Windows XP is going completely End of Life (EoL) on April 8th, 2014. I know all too well the reservations of going to Vista and the headaches that came with it, but Windows 7 *is* a much nicer OS.

XP is a good OS, but change has to come sometime.
Just upgrade to 7.

I'm actually planning to jump straight to Win8, but my budget doesn't have space for it until November.
(I use Win8 at work. Games play better on it than when it was Win7.)

Don't ever jump to Win8. Eff that crap. :)

Honestly, regardless of the end of life state, I see no reason why XP wouldn't continue to run this type of game just fine. It's not like it's going to use DX11 just for particle effects (especially since it's going to have to support iOS and Android). This should be a fairly low-resource game. Even if it doesn't officially "support" XP, I would expect the game to RUN on XP just fine.

Again, as always, I have absolutely no confirmation or existing knowledge from CZE on this, it's just a purely logical conclusion I have made from the available evidence. Your mileage my vary. ;)

No detailed info yet, but Cory has said that the game will be able to be running in ‘low end machines’. So there is a good chance that an upgrade isn’t needed. (http://www.twitch.tv/knightsoftheroundshow/b/430004874 check 01:07:00)
