bahahah, I love that card. I'm a big fan of stupid/funny cards. Always nice to see a company with a healthy sense of humor. :)

Wow... any deck built around cosmic transmogrifier is going to be total chaos. I love it. :)

Nice to see the Mancubus make a reappearance from Scott Pilgrim: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XamNRZe1_C0#t=00m27s

Loregoyle seems likely to make an appearance in some combo deck that can mill itself.

Infernal Professor is a bit odd in that it shares the same art with Mephistophelius. Is this a placeholding oversight?

Infernal Professor seems like an awesome card. The effect is pretty bad, but it seems like the sort of thing that would be amazing with equipment. And yeah, I'm assuming the art is just placeholder for now.

At first I thought the professor was a creature, and Hex had somehow made an even more broken Dark Confidant. Basic Action seems cool though :D

I have an EDH deck that wants to play the Transmogrifier so bad. I'd also like alternate-art transmogrifier that's just a cardboard box!

Am I correct thinking that Calvin & Hobbes had a transmogrifer?

The two troops both have the old attack icon of swords rather than an axe, so they're potentially old pics and could thus be different now, or different come release.

As for my thoughts on the cards:

Mancubus offers some nice card advantage, but without a boost you're pretty much only getting 4 points of power for 8 mana, which is pretty expensive. Still, some of the cards at 2 power might be worth it, such as Wild Root Dancer.

Loregoyle is a pretty nice wall and offers an ability that control decks in particular won't hate.

Infernal Professor is really good for a 1 mana draw spell. I mean, if you're happy with the top card, no drawback. If you're not happy with it, get the next card instead, suffer a little life loss, but get a cost reduction to help you out.

Nymph's Kiss offers spellshield which is always nice, but it's a 7 cost card that's conditional on having a troop out and can still get 2-for-1'd via a sweeper, or a quick action removal spell before the Kiss resolves.

Cosmic Transmogrifier looks like a lot of fun, but given that it's random it's almost surely too inconsistent for competitive play.

Let's see....
Tiger .... check.
Transmogrifier .... check.
If the extended art is a kid with a striped shirt and spiky blond hair in the foreground, I'm sending my next paycheck to Crypto.
Calvin and Hobbes --- got me right in DEM FEELS.

The mancubus is definitely going to be an interesting card. Seems like it may be a little bit of a win more card but maybe not. To make it really effective seems like you are going to need to combo with ruby pyro, sword trainer, wild growth, or other cards to get the bang for your buck and if you are meeting those conditions then you might be in a situation where you are just piling on. On the other hand if you are going against a troop that makes it worth your while to do those things it may be a stalemate breaker as well as having him out may put a roadblock in the way of your opponent. "Damn he has Mancubus out, I really can't drop my root dancer until I deal with him."

Also seems like he should have flight. Wings.. just sayin.

Note that it affects constants, including itself. Single use only most of the time, depending how many 5 cost constants are in the set.

Yep, it's basically Warp World from Magic. One key difference here is there are a variety of ways of creating tokens that have a cost. All it takes is a couple ways to cheaply replicate tokens that have a cost and you can flood the board with random cards that can get turned into huge value cards. Even something like Shin'hare can throw out upwards of 10-15 battle hoppers then have them all transmogrified into 1 drops

Looking at how the text is written, I would think the card type need not stay the same. As I see it, in Magic terms, Cosmic Transmogrifier simply says "Each non-land permanent changes into a random non-land permanent with the same cost."

I think it intends them to transform to the same type, even if the wording could be seen as vague. It just takes way less text to say it this way than "each artifact transforms into a random artifact with the same cost, then each constant transforms into a random..." etc. :)

Either way... if they come up with some alternate art version with an unnamed spiky haired blonde boy and a tiger, I WILL be acquiring four of them and I WILL be making a deck out of it, no matter how bizarre and unplayable it is. :D

Re: art for the professor, Zoltog is both a card and a merc, with the same art, and the DragonCon spoilers have a card which has the same art as Glorfenblort, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the "card version" of the same person. Plus the effect on the card is pretty similar to what the merc does.

Mancubus should be pretty funny with temp boosters like wild growth or the +x/0 champ abilities.

I was drawn to HEX by the digital nature and some of the unique mechanics they proposed.

I'll hopefully be playing HEX for a long time because of the wit and humor present in the card designs.

I ♥ Cosmic Transmogrifier.

Edit: Just remembered that right now, the current speculation on rules suggests transformations happen until the end of the game. As such, Cosmic Transmogrifier has some PvP potential in that it can potentially be used with bounce to strand cards of differently colored shards in an opponent's hand. If that's true, I really ♥ Cosmic Transmogrifier.

Loregoyle can target any player. So this could be used on an ally in PvE, or on an opponent. Cards like booby trap are currently voided when played, but we might get a persistent one someday.
