So recently I picked up the Blood Bowl Chaos Edition video game, and one thing that really drew me to it is the ability to set up private leagues to (in a way) simulate playing the tabletop version at the local hobby store with your friends. You can set up tournaments/season play within the league, so you can do "competitive" PvP with your friends.

So how this relates to Hex: I know I've seen several people talk about wanting to eventual ability to set up tournaments within guilds so guildies can compete with each other separate from the rest of the world at large. I say, why stop there? I may have friends in other guilds, or even friends who refuse to join guilds (for whatever reason), or any number of other things. And while I'm sure I could set something like this offline (set up a tournament ladder on paper at home and just have friends play each other and send me the results), having the ability to do all this in game and maybe show the results and standings would be really cool (in my opinion anyway).

So who else would be interested in the eventual ability (I do not in any way expect this at alpha/beta/or launch) to set up private leagues within Hex and be able to set their own custom tournament rules (random seed ladder style, a system like Blood Bowl where players challenge each other in the league but only up to x number of times in a row, or any other style that could be implemented easily), and making such a system available outside of a guild or faction?

So, would the private leagues/tournies be played for prizes and would there be entry fees? And who would supply the prizes, the person running the event or CZE?

I definitely like the idea, but not sure on all the details.

They've said many times they'll be implementing a very in depth league system eventually. I think it's pretty high on their priority list even.

This is already being planned ;

Leagues! Imagine an interface that allows you to custom craft your very own league. Pick and choose all the options of your league, what format, how long it will run, who can play in it, what the prizes will be. This simple and intuitive tool will allow you completely customize the league. (update #8 http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cze/hex-mmo-trading-card-game/posts?page=8)

We'll have guild leagues for sure, but now you got me thinking about guild-only tournaments...!!!!

In my mind these would be just for fun amongst friends (rewards = fun times and bragging rights). Though I'm sure a system could be implemented for the league coordinator to put in a system for rewards that they supply (everyone kick in $1, I'll use that to buy packs for the winner, or any system that the players deem both "fair" and "awesome").

Lol, I figured when I wrote that that I could probably expect you specifically to reply with links to all sorts of sources I hadn't already found. Thanks for the help.

Can't wait to set up some high stakes leagues... When you lose some men in suits will come take you to our hard labor centers where you can work off your debts.
