Does the swordsman deal 3 damage twice or 6 damage?

He deals double damage, which would be 6 damage applied all at once. My question is with his rare equipment which says that if he deals damage, he deals triple that damage instead, are we talking triple instead of double for 9, or triple the double which is 18?!?!

Put some Crush on that thing and it's game over...

Huh, swordsman + weapon equipment + Wild Growth = 21 damage. Maybe useful, maybe cost prohibitive.

"Instead" seems to imply replacing the do 2x damage ability with the do 3x ability. If the two stacked it seems far too easy to abuse.

Some deceptive wording on that swordsman. Until you look at the equipment options it sounds like 'double-strike'.

The wording is definitely vague enough that some people are going to read it as double strike but Im not sure theres a better way to template it.

My question is, is this a triggered ability that uses the stack or does it bypass it?

I like the trainer from a draft standpoint. Kinda vulnerable at 2 toughness but I think it would be too powerful at 3.

For the swordsman I don't think it has anything to do with the stack. It should probably be worded similar to Furnace of Wrath in MTG. "If Daring Swordsman would deal damage to a creature or player, it deals double that damage to that creature or player instead."

Yea until we see a comprehensive rules document we won't know exactly how replacement effects and such are handled.

Deals double damage is very clear and concise to me (Telcata has similar text). Only if you play MTG would you make it seem complicated. After playing hex for awhile i'm sure we will get double strike out of our minds : )

A 6/3 for 6 seems really expensive to me (not to mention vulnerable), so to make him worthwhile you have to put another card into him. I don't think I'll be using him.

well he is only an uncommon but if used with the inspire deck is a real threat, after getting pyro alex and sword trainer buffs he can hurt a lot.

you could always buff him yourself though as for now the ability to deal double damage is unique and not a keyword.

think it should be key worded and called dual strike though to save future iterations.

The reason he is 6 power is specifically for inspire decks so that he takes all possible buffs making him 3 cost makes him less powerful actually.

There are no 5 or 6 cost cards with inspire, though, so making him cost 4 or 5 would make him dramatically more powerful. Hell, even cost 3 would give him Ruby Pyromancer, Protectorate Clergyman and Victoria. A 10/4 for 3 with lifedrain? Sign me up!

For the big finishers planned to use with inspire decks, 4 is the obvious ideal cost since you hit everything. Though something like this guy or falconer for 4 might be too strong.
