Along with all other other great HEX communities and resources, HEXRealms.com (http://www.hexrealms.com) has also been blessed with two Exclusive Previews! Yesterday we previewed Chimera (http://www.hexrealms.com/content.php?265-Exclusive-Card-Spoiler-Chimera); today, we are showcasing Carrion Ooze!

Carrion Ooze has two useful applications to it's ability. The first of these is, of course, the ability to rapidly regain life. If the battlefield has been particularly bloody, you could gain up to 6 life per turn. This card gives a powerful counter to aggressive play by punishing them a small amount for every creature either of you loses. If they force an aggressive early game, you could use Carrion Ooze to survive by making use of the high card-loss rate of an aggressive opening. It also helps counter deck-depletion tactics, because if your opponent keeps making you mill your deck, you'll gain 1-3 life fairly consistently. This could empower you to take more risks and allow stronger aggression to win the game.

Can I ask how a single carrion ooze could ever restore 6 health in a single turn (without help)?

1-3 cards at 1 health per card doesn't add up to 6, and it says "a graveyard", not "each graveyard".

In PVE, there's the equipment to get three off the bat. Give it speed and there's three more.

Nice card for the side deck against decks that abuse the graveyard.

I specifically said 'without help'. For all we know it could someday have a crazy infinite combo - but on it's own, it gains 3 health a turn. Either coming into play, or using it's effect, but not both.

Yeah, as Xenavire has been saying, this will only give you 3 Life, not 6. Still, it's a pretty interesting card. It could combo pretty well with a Shin'hare sacrifice deck for example. If you're sacrificing Battle Hoppers and have a Blood Bearer in play, you could get 3 from the Blood Bearer than then 3 from the Ooze. Unlikely you'd be able to do that every turn, but still quite potent.

I think Icepick has a good idea there. Mono blood, Wretched brood with sacrifice engines, and carrion ooze and Blood bearer to offset the lost health.

Especially potent with the unique transforming shin'hare. Near complete control, and if you add in something useful like vampire lord you will just churn out vampires too.
