I didn't want to call this a bug yet as I am uncertain if it is. I figured I would ask here.

I had a Veteran Gladiator attack and I was unable to select a Storm Colossus as my target for "When this troop attacks, target opposing troop can't block this turn".

Storm Colossus does have spellshield, so I was just wondering if this is expected or if perhaps the ability is marked as a spell and should not be.

Should spellshield prevent the application of 'can not block' for the turn?

I believe spellshield completely prevents targeting by the opponent, regardless of whether it is a spell or an ability. I couldn't find the official description though, that's just what it says on the Wiki I found first.

Spellshield means that they can't be targetted by spells/abilities that say something like "target troop." It's like hexproof in mtg.

Exact definition of spellshield: http://hextcg.com/keywords/

Spellshield
This keyword helps keep your troop alive from an opponent’s targeted removal spell. Opposing champions cannot target a card with Spellshield. This does not stop you from being able to target your troop though (so, for example, a Shellshielded troop can still gain the benefits of Inspire). It works perfectly for trying to keep a troop around and build them into something that will become a serious problem for the opponent.
Any stat modifiers go perfectly on troops with this keyword since they will be very difficult to deal with. It pairs very well with most keywords by just giving them extra protection and allowing the troop to not be bothered by targeted effects the opponent controls.

Hey, just to provide some official documentation:

http://hextcg.com/keywords/

From Spellshield's description:
"This keyword helps keep your troop alive from an opponent’s targeted removal spell. Opposing champions cannot target a card with Spellshield."

So a troop with spellshield cannot be directly targeted by the opponent at all, not just by spells, but also by abilities. Presumably, as in Magic, a "do X to all" type card would probably still hit them (like Extinction), but that piece is logical conjecture on my part. :)
