Intro

In November, we hosted the first ever Budget Cup (http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup/) - around 50 players participated in a single elimination knockout best of 3 tournament format that packed high stakes and gave budget players and rogue deckbuilders a chance at glory. You can check out the eventual bracket (http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup/bracket/), top 8 profiles (http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-top-8-profiles/), and top 8 decklists (http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup/decklists/top-8/) if you want to have a look back.

The only changes we are making this time around is the inclusion of reserves if you wish to add them, and the tournament taking place all in one day. Of course, Set 2 cards are now added to the pool as well.

The advantage of this format is that you don't need to spend an entire day playing round by round not sure whether it will amount to anything (in the first Budget Cup, some players made the top 8 after 3 wins which constituted about 2-3 hours of their time).

Main Rules

- Max $10 total cost for your Main Deck, Max $2 for your Reserves.

- Minimum 60 cards per deck, Champion and Gems must be stated.

- You can either have no reserves or exactly 15 reserves. If you choose to submit 15 reserve cards, their Max total cost is to be $2 (This does not count towards the $10 Main Deck limit).

Card Price List

We have determined and locked the prices of cards for this tournament – you can find them at the following link: www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-2/price-list/

Banned List

- Gore Feast of Kog'Tepetl (to make sure the meta is varied).
- Grave Nibbler, Rune Ear Burrower, Shoggoth, Eldon's Distress Signal, Flak Scrapper (bugged).
- All Robots if you are playing Sir Giles Rowan as your champion(if you are not playing with Sir Giles Rowan, you may include all Robots in your deck). This is a conditional ban.
- Fissuresmith if your deck contains any troop with Inspire or Jovial Pippit. This is a conditional ban.

Tournament Time/Format

The tournament starts February 1st at 18:00 GMT (Worldclock (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=HexPrimal+Budget+Cup+2&iso=20150201T18&p1=1440)).

The format is Single Elimination Best of 3 (The winner of 2 Games wins the Match. If you lose a Match, you are knocked out of the tournament).

Signing Up

The sign up deadline is 18:00 GMT (Worldclock (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=HexPrimal+Budget+Cup+2+Sign-Up+Deadline&iso=20150131T18&p1=1440)) on Saturday January 31st (both for Challonge registration and Deck sign-up).

First, please make sure to register for the tournament at the Challonge Budget Cup 2 (http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/RMZqaDgoG6) page.

Then, you can sign up to the tournament by heading to www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-2/sign-up/ (http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-2/sign-up/) . You will be asked to fill your Keep name, Email, your Champion, and your Deck List. Your Deck List should be written in this format:

Main Deck:

4x Card 1
3x Card 2 (Major Blood Orb of Brutality)
...

14x X Shard
10x Y Shard

Please ensure your main deck is valued under $10 and your Reserves(if any) are under $2 – we will be checking these and will let you know by email in case you are over the limit(if you don't hear from us, that means everything is ok). Please note that if you do not resubmit a valid deck before the deadline, we will be forced to remove you from the tournament.

Tournament Day

We will release the decklists at http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-2/decklists/ by Sunday 14:00 GMT.

You will be required to do a pre-tournament check-in at Challonge. You can check-in at anytime within 1 hour of the tournament start time (= Between 17:00 GMT and 18:00 GMT). If you do not check-in before the tournament launch time, you will be dropped.

Brackets will be shuffled and randomly generated as soon as the check-in deadline has passed.

If you can’t find your opponent by 18:15 GMT, and we can confirm the user is not online, you will be awarded a bye.

Ombra, one of the main contributors of HexPrimal.com, will be the tournament host and will stream the tournament from http://www.twitch.tv/djmoneghan. Players are advised to have it open on the background as all tournament coverage and relevant updates will be given here. If you plan to stream your Match, we highly recommend you use a card blocker (http://www.hexprimal.com/wp-content/uploads/hexprimalcardblocker.jpg) so we can host your stream as the feature Match of the Round.

Once you finish your Match, the winner is responsible to report the Match score on Challonge.

In-Game Contact

To facilitate communication, please direct all your questions/deck-rulings/etc to tournament admins Chrome (IGN Chrome) and Bootlace (IGN Bootlace).

Additional Guidelines

- The time limit for each Round is 60 minutes. After the time is up, whoever has the lead in terms of Games won will be awarded the Match win. If the score is tied (0-0 or 1-1), the winner of the next Game will be awarded the win.

- All games take place within the Proving Grounds (you may start using the 2-person queue from Top 8 onward if both players agree to do so).

- Coin Flip will decide who goes first in Game 1. Loser of the previous game decides who plays first in Game 2 and 3 (communicate to opponent through in-game chat).

- You may use your Reserves and change gems in Game 2 and 3 but your Champion must stay fixed. Each player has 2 minutes to do Reserves - please show respect for your opponent and don't take too long.

- If a player claims to have loaded the wrong deck they must report to their opponent immediately before mulliganing, and inform admins what has happened. The game will be restarted but you are only allowed this mistake once in the tournament - any future cases will result in that game being conceded.

Rule Enforcement

- You will be responsible for checking that your opponent is not playing any cards or quantities of cards that aren’t listed in their deck list – by referring to the player’s decklist located at the decklists page: www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-2/decklists/ (http://www.hexprimal.com/budget-cup-2/decklists/) .

- If you find your opponent is playing cards outside their decklist – please let the admins know. Also, take a screenshot and submit to us at hexprimal@gmail.com (mailto:hexprimal@gmail.com) and we will disqualify them accordingly.

- If you observe your opponent to be playing slow intentionally, please let the admins know. If you are streaming, we can join your stream and issue a warning accordingly. Further disciplinary action (Game loss, Match loss, disqualification) may be taken at the sole discretion of tournament admins.

- If a bug causes the game to freeze, neither player has fatal damage (and can prove it), and neither player is willing to concede, the game must be restarted.

Does my deck still need to be below 10$ after switching from reserves?

No, it does not. Once you fulfill the budget requirements as you submit your deck (for Main Deck:$10 and Reserves:$2), you are free to play any combination of those cards for Game 2 and Game 3.

Why are you not using the 1v1 tournament queue?

Assassine
01-24-2015, 12:45 PM
Because when all matches start at the same time, its gonna be hard to get in there with the right opponent.

chromus

Indeed, it isn't practical to use in the beginning of the tournament as the Round Start time is the same for all participants (on top of other non-tourney players trying to use the the same queue). For Top 8 and after, we have left the choice to the players.

Ok.. explain the robot rule? :p

Bmon
01-27-2015, 09:53 PM
Robots are currently bugged with Giles' ability. I believe if you buff robots, then all troops get the Giles buff as if they shared a trait with the robots. Either that, or you can buff another troop type and all robots get the Giles buff as well. I can never remember which of the two it is.

You buff something else, Robots get buffed too.

Xexist

So what if your deck was ALL robots..

chromus
01-29-2015, 05:57 AM
I believe the bug is that your non-robots also get buffed by Giles. A deck with only Robots could work but it makes the rule a bit too complicated. Better to just wait for Hex Ent. to fix the bug before playing with it.

I haven't gotten a confirmation email with regards to my decklist, should I be worried?

Your deck is perfectly fine Jensling. We don't email unless your deck needs to be re-submitted (those emails are sent out as we receive & check decklists).

I did also sign up and send the deck list. I hope it will be as cool as the last budget cup

Is it okay to have sideboard value of exactly 2 Dollar ?

Thank you.

Yes, exactly $2 Reserves is ok. If you haven't received an email from us, your submitted deck is valid.

Two things:
a)you should definitely hold off on publishing decklists until the tournament is over.
b)are you streaming / doing commentary anywhere? Seems like you're missing out on a good opportunity.

The published decklists are so that players can confirm that their opponent isn't cheating, and yes there is a stream/commentary on http://www.twitch.tv/djmoneghan
