View Full Version : Forum Bug - not sure where else to post this; 'Not authorized to view this page'

Sorry for invading the bug reports, but this seems like the most relevant place to mention this.

Every time I visit the Hex forums for the first time each day, the first page that greets meet is a big ol' landing page saying I 'don't have authorization to visit this page' (this page being the General Forums); no amount of cache purging, trying from another computer, or Shift-F5'ing has changed that. Minor inconvenience... you log out, log back in again, good to go.

A couple months ago, a new wrinkle appeared that after re-logging, instead of saying Welcome MatWith1T, it says Welcome, Unregistered, meaning I can't reply or create posts. So now I have to re-log TWICE. Little more aggravating, but manageable. But now, the last few weeks, whenever you get to the Login page, there is a big popup to join the Cryptozoic newsletter, which I have to navigate past twice as I re-log twice. It's getting to be a little much. Anyone else having this issue?

I've never heard of this before. I would PM Phenteo to have him look at this, since it's not a game bug, and he's partially been involved with some of the website stuff (mostly hextcg.com, but he should at least have an understanding of the web code for the forums, even if he's not involved with them directly).

Quick question: Have you deleted your cookies in your browser?

I just wanted to chime in that I've been experiencing this bug for the past few weeks as well.

Specifically, it happens to me whenever I switch computers (i.e. my login on one computer is good indefinitely, but if I use another computer, I'll get the 'not authorized' page and have to relog there, at which point the first computer will become 'not authorized').

The bug appears specific to Chrome, as I can't reproduce it with Safari or Firefox.

I actually used to get this same error any time I'd switch from browsing the forums on my PC and my Tablet or vice versa, had to re-login every single time. It was quite annoying, but then after a while it just suddenly corrected itself and I haven't seen the error since. Best advice I can give is clear your cookies for hextcg and cryptozoic's sites any time this happens, and just hope for the best.

That's so weird. I'm simultaneously logged into the forums on my PC, work laptop, gaming laptop, my wife's laptop upstairs, my tablet, and my father-in-law's computer in the city... none of them give me any issues, or de-authorize me to use the other devices, or make me relog. I've found the forums to be very forgiving and have no issues with it tracking which threads I have and haven't read, regardless of which machine I happen to be sitting at when I hit the refresh button.

Yeah my issues only started a few weeks ago out of nowhere, and then went away after about a week just as suddenly. Definitely weird.

The first time it happened I got so worried that I was banned or something and had no idea why, my stomach was in knots like you wouldn't believe.

This is happening to me as well. I'm using Firefox.

I used to have this happen consistently if I tried to change my forum theme on one of my devices. I've stopped trying and settled on the mobile theme and it hasn't happened again since. I also freaked the first time it happened, I couldn't understand why I was banned ;)

To resolve it I would log on from every device I had previously logged on to the forums with, going through the multiple logon steps until it said Welcome Hatts. Once I was fully logged on I would use the log out link.

Once that was done I'd log back on my main PC, set the default theme to whichever I wanted and NEVER touch the setting again in fear of triggering the issue again. I'd then log back in on my various devices as needed.

It's important to do every device before logging back in on any of them, a couple of times I forgot my work laptop and would have to do the process all over again.

Are any of you running any plug-ins in your client that would affect javascript? Or did you change or have higher settings for internet security?

MatWith1T

Not that I know of... just running stock Chrome & Firefox on various devices (also all with default internet security settings)

(Tested and can confirm this happens only when I switch devices... can use one browser repeatedly without issue, but if i check forums forums from a phone or tablet or another computer, then I am 'de-authorized', and again when I switch back to original device)

Weird. I use the forums on multiple devices and I've never received the issue.

In my case, neither logging in with LastPass nor Chrome on my phone triggers it on my computer. It's purely between Chrome on multiple computers.

My chrome extensions:

BetaFish Adblocker
BetterTTV
Checker Plus for Gmail
Cisco WebEx Extension
Cloud To Butt Plus
Feedly Background Tab
Google Cast
Google Docs
Google Play Music
Hangouts
LastPass
Pushbullet
Reddit Enhancement Suite
Reddit's Orange Envelope
Vimium

Unrelated CZE site bug: When I'm logging in (as I have to very often these days), if I get the "subscribe to our newsletter" popup, I have to refresh the page because it breaks the login form (clicking the login button does nothing).

Yup! That too...

I have to chime in - I use Chrome on my PC and my Android phone, and am logged in on both constantly. I have never had this issue.

If knowing my usage etc and background programs helps narrow down the cause, I am happy to add what I can, but not having the issue only means I can try to rule things out. :p

I do not currently have this issue, but I've seen it before.

I whitelisted the Cryptozoic domain in Adblock on both of my work computers and I'm currently logged in on both without issue. When I get home I'll try syncing my whitelist there and see if that helps.

It did not. Logging in on my home Mac still logged me off my home PC.

I must be getting old, but this post made me laugh. I wanted the list of computers you were logged onto to start including your pets.

Don't be ridiculous. We had to disable wifi on the dog's computer, he kept downloading porn.

Just wanted to add a new wrinkle to this mystery I just noticed... when I do finally get to log in after the 'Log out, Log out again, Login, Pop-up freezes Login, Refresh and Login again' dance, the username it displays in the welcome page is not my own. It shows my email/birthday/address/etc in the account info... but it says my username is DanTheMeek in the page title.

That's default for when you're not logged in. It's weird.

You need to make sure you click the log out again then log back in. You may have a sync-ing issue with your browsers if you have cross-browser log-ins like chrome does.

I just wanted to report that the issue appears to be fixed for me. Did anything change?

Must've been a Chrome bug then, I guess.
