View Full Version : A little piece of (spider based) confirmation

So, the Vennen are about to become a force and I *freaking* love it! It combines my favourite pieces of decent tricks/mechanics with a weenie rush (hey hey spiderlings).

Could we have it confirmed that the Terrorantula Eggs will work like they do in Xarlax (at least sort of, in Xarlax they count as artifacts.... I've reshuffled a few with Gearsmith... the new spiderling egg is a 'Bane')? Will I be able to trigger my egg-bombs by milling them to my opponents graveyard?

As an extra ask, what are the staple Vennen troops in the starter deck going to be? Are we going to get spiderlings and spiderspawn as standard cards without the requirement for eggs?

Cheers guys, I've reached the point where I'm dropping some money on the game (I promised myself I wouldn't but damn, it's way too fun :D) and my experience has only gotten better.

And a big thanks to the community. Love you guys, no salt required :D

Terrorantula Eggs: http://forums.cryptozoic.com/showthread.php?t=43240&page=7&p=487460#post487460

If they're taking "Artifact" off the card and replacing it with "BANE", I don't think Gearsmith will be able to affect either of them anymore. Spiderling and Spiderspawn rarity has been seen to be gray, meaning not an actual card, so probably won't be included unless they change that.

Aye, I was always amazed that I could affect the spider eggs with a gearsmith (for better or worse) so I hope that 'Bane' is a new category.

That does also raise the chance that Booby Traps, etx. become banes (essentially anything that affects the opposing deck should be a bane) and will we have cards that speciifcally affect banes?

The devs have already confirmed that terrorantula eggs worth exactly the same as broodlord eggs from Xarlox's PVE power, except that as you mentioned, they are not artifacts.

I do still wonder what 'staple' Vennen deck troops will look like.... where are my early round chumps?

Another victim has fallen to the incredibly fair non-malicious business model.
It snapped me right in half. This new set with the Vennen and Necrotic will break me again.

Spidey-pride! :D

The low cost troop aspect is indeed a mystery...

In sets 1 & 2 Vennen are the costliest race, with 3 being the cheapest and 6 the most expensive (4.something average).
They will have some lower cost options soon, as we've seen so far:

* Hatchery Priest - 1 cost 0/2 egg generator.
* Runeweb Infiltrator - 2 cost 1/1 flying egg generator.
* Exarch of the Egg - rare 2 cost 1/3 lethal egg generator.

However they won't have basic Spiderlings, Spider Spawn or Terrorantula - the grey rarity on each of those means they are only available as summons (to players at least).

I'd make 2 guesses at this point...

1. If we do see any playable spiders, it'll probably be something like a 1/1 Lethal or a Legendary with a toxified attack - poisonous spiders is the archetype we're missing, and I can understand why Lethal mightn't be an effect we'll see on egg spiders.

2. Vennen might follow the diamond model of being very rare-centric, so I wouldn't be shocked if they are light on cheap troops on account of just-about-everyone wanting the same few low cost drops (e.g. Exarch of the Egg).

Cheers for the information folks :D Glad to be a part of the scene (got a Squire KS back in the day..... didn't play for quite a while).

Hex is basically all I'm playing now :S

With Blood/Sapphire being the Vennen way I'm wondering if I can lob in some of the shinhare for early game..... DOUBLE WEENIE RUSH!

Now I'm imagining a future set where there's a keyword that gives bonuses to using certain races together and, thus, the Shin'Hare Spider Rider was born!

I'm just waiting for an escalation card that throws eggs into the other guys deck.
Might not happen this set, but it will happen eventually.

I don't think that's probable.
The few tribals that made it into the meta (Humans/Dwarves) aren't too costly (Humans have no legendaries, dwarves have a legendary but no rares).
The diamond (and saph) deck is costly because it's a "good cards" deck, not an actual synergy deck.
So I don't think there will be too many rares/legendaries in the vennen tribal deck.

That being said, we might not have enough vennen for a good tribal deck until set 4 hits.
Just like dwarves weren't a serious thing until set 2.

I was thinking more in the manner that the Vennen may be piling up on each other like the core diamond cards e.g. bunch of cheap keyword troops trumped by Spearcliff Cloud Knight, bunch of cheap removal trumped by Solitary Exile.

I do admire the laser focus on spider eggs so far, but we're only a few quality troops (including a mill specialist I hope) away from saturation in that theme...

Who knows though - could be a whole other side to the Vennen yet to be spoilered! :)

Vennen tunnelers maybe?
Though I think the tunnel keyword is going to stay in set 2 for now.

But there is not much need for a mill specialist when we have chronic madness, and access to :sapphire: card draw.
