From the shadows of the Rotwoods and Briarpatch swamps come the elusive and sinister Elven Warlocks. The power of Wild magic under the direction of these secluded elves twist the very fabrics of Wild magic bordering on Blood rituals. With their magic Elven Warlocks manipulate plant matter to twist and mutate their surroundings and themselves. Behold the dark powers of the Thorntwister of the Rotwood swamps!!

That's actually pretty decent for D/W. Nice spoiler!

I would like Elf Warlocks to be exclusive to Wild and Blood like their crazy enough to use black magic in their obsession with mutating plants. By exclusive meaning only Elf Warlock support cards and Elf Warlocks in general have Blood and Wild thresholds in the Elf race.

Note how it's an elf i.e. it has a strong synergy with Feralroot Acorn (https://hextcg.com/wp-content/themes/hex/images/autocard/Feralroot%20Acorn.png).

Elf Warlocks seem to be defensive I hope they make more elves with counters

As others have said this will be very popular in the W/D shard combination. As seraph_hex mentioned I also love how this works so incredibly well with feralroot acorn. It may just be a common but it is a very interesting common :-)

I'm more concerned with it's badassery on artwork she's got a witchfire thorn MACE!!

I am more drawn to this common than I am to the majority of legendaries and rares spoiled so far.

Yeah, this is interesting. I can think of a couple ways to get it in play on turn 2 in mono wild, W/R, and W/D, thanks to feralroot acorn. A turn two 3/4 steadfast is pretty hard to deal with if you don't have really good removal. :)

I don't know if I would say I am more interested in it than the legendaries or rares we have seen so far but I am actually thinking about it more as it will be something I will commonly see in draft/sealed which is what I will be doing a lot of when the set releases

I am digging the art tbh, I always liked a green/back color palette (especially one that has no pastels). If only the wild/blood border was a little darker.

You are going to need a new sig then, or some elf warlock/coyotle love-child melding. Nice job spoiling though! I like your lore weaving.

Living the turn 1 dream with Ethereal Healers! :)

In PVE he's a turn 1 play for rainbow necrotics of any class due to shard affinity. ( Likely a 0 cost play too, given if you are doing rainbow necrotic, not taking ethereal healers is crazy talk )

Elf Warlock reminds me an aweful lot of "druids". Is this the work around, because there will never be a druid class? ;)

Living the turn 1 dream with Ethereal Healers! :)

The lifegain from Ethereal Healers and the Necrotic's shard affinity happens before the start of the game, on turn "zero." This is why Ethereal Healers do not have troop trauma when they start the game in play and you play first. The healing given from these two effects will not count towards you playing Thorntwister on turn 1... you'll have to come up with some other ways to gain life quickly. :)

Well, at least you could possibly play it on turn 2 with Feralroot Acorn plus this : http://i2.wp.com/2turnsahead.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Harvest-Moon-1.png

You may even play multiples, if multiple copies are in your hand.

Or turn 1 Howling Brave, turn 2 Feralroot Acorn works too.

Turn 1 Soloist, Turn 2 Harvest Moon should work as well, in limited. You know, just in case you can't score the rare shard in your one set 3 pack. :)

I'm still not sure what quantifies a warlock in Hex.

I'm still not sure what quantifies a warlock in Hex.

Elf: A plant necromancer basically.
Coyotle: A spirit whisperer.
Human: A 'good' necromancer that only summons willing ghosts.
Necrotic and Shin'hare: Pure evil necromancers that create undead.
Dwarf: Uses gem magic to be a 'robot necromancer'
Vennen: Uses Blood magic to be an expert torturer
Orc: Uses Blood to perform various buffing and curses

It could still be a turn 1 play if you're lucky enough to have three Ethereal Healers trigger and start in play for you though. . .

You could do turn 1 also with 2 triggers, scriviner, a Wild Shard and a Hex Geode.

1 Healer in play plus a single Harvest Moon and wild shard would also be sufficient...

But that would be too easy Oss!
