All you have to do is quote a favorite post from the past 3 years in this thread. I'll choose 10 to award 5 Set 4 packs to. One entry per person.

Let's see them... :)

It's not about speed, and not about pace,
You don't have to read verse as if it were a race.

This thing called meter(metre), or a syllable count
that regulates rhythm, length, or ammount

a caesurae, stop can be short or be long,
you can choose whichever, neither one is wrong.

but it's common practice in rap or in poem,
to keep them consistent so people will know 'em.

Rappers do this by heart, they need no analysis,
but for lots of people this can causes paralysis.

Inconsistancy is bad, as it breaks you out
It makes it hard to tell what you're rythm's about

If you start 5,5, 7, you should and that way too,
If then end with 13, well that just ain't coo'

If there's music, background, base and a beat,
you can break these rules, and it won't cause defeat

but when you write things down, please keep it the same
Or I'll bust out my lessons, and these are kinda lame.

(faster)
'cause it's all about the rythm and all about the flow, you can be like certain rappers and just let everything go, but if you analyze their rythm you'll find out and you'll know, that every single syllable is metered and thorough.

Balance.
Give it a chance.

PS: Didn't mean to be harsh, you're really not "crap" but it was the only word that I could rhyme with rap.

Yours were so-so, I mean, they could be better
but you don't have to follow my rules to the letter.

But in just one thing I definitely agree,
I want blue wheel sleeves. but also baby yeti.

From the blue wheel sleeves thread. Some actual fire in that thread.

thos post single handedly stopped more Yeti cards from being printed.

Hello,

My in-game name is NERD (formerly NerdForChrist). My background with TCG’s began when I was in middle school and a game called Pokémon. Since then I have played Yu-Gi-Oh, WoW TCG, MTG, Vs System, Shadow Era and many others I can’t think of right now. I have been playing HEX since sometime around May of this year and can say I truly have enjoyed most of my time on this game.

There is one concern that I would like to address. I believe that if left unchecked this could ruin the game’s future. The concern I have is with one card… Baby Yeti.

At a glance it seems like an innocent card with little potential. After all it’s a mere 1/1 troop with a cost of 1 and a single ruby threshold. If you were like me when I began then you say oh NERD you are being silly. I would have agreed with you 3 months ago… That was until I started seeing this card being used over and over against me. Countless times I have fallen prey to this monstrosity. It’s simply overpowered.

I often wondered why this card was left untouched in most drafts and was passed on and often left as last pick of the pack. I assumed it was a bad card. But I now know that it is due to the fact that other players want to have a fair match. Using this card against your opponent basically guarantees you will win. So to those of you who pass this card on until you are forced to take it thank you. To those of you who are abusing the raw power of this card I say shame on you!

People who claim the Sun to be OP have certainly never been staring at a Baby Yeti Across the field.

What I propose to correct this design flaw is as follows:
1. New Keyword Slow: This troop can’t attack or block the entire game (After review this change would still make the card overpowered, proceed to option two).
2. Prevent it from being added to decks whether it’s constructed or limited. Simply make it unplayable. (Its existence would still impact the game… please proceed to option three).
3. Remove the card from future pack pulls, people’s collections, and delete any digital trace of this card’s existence. This is the only solution!

I would like an official response from CZE as to how they plan to run a successful TCG when this card determines games before they even start. We might as well change the name of this game to HEX: Baby Yeti!

I hope this madness can come to an end so people can enjoy the game and no longer fall victims to Baby Yeti!

Has to be this inconspicuous post, I have played card games for decades and never saw this question in a card game related forum! Diablo FTW.

Hello all, i have been searching for an answer for this question some time now and maybe you can help me?

In PvE when you are going trough a dungeon and fighting the bosses (or other mobs on the way), will there be cards and/or loot dropped that is bound to your account or will you be able to perches at the cards in the auction house.

My opinion is that if you can buy the best boss drops then there will be a way to buy your progress instead of grinding/playing the game like a real MMORPG. There will be sort of ''pay-to-win'' like there is in other TCG och PvP!

Hope someone have some feedback on this :)
Thank you

Since I live mostly on the Bug Report subforum, I'm going to post one of my favorite reports:

Firstly, Army of Myth is failing to spawn PvE uniques in PvE Proving Grounds matches against the computer (similar to the bug I posted before about Heart of the Wrathwood not making PvE Plants in Proving Grounds matches against the computer).

Pretty sure, anyway; I did an Army for 315 and none spawned.

Also, there might be some other unique cards Army isn't making, or it might just have been RNG; note my Army for 315 didn't make a single Jadiim, Lord Adam or Reginald for instance, despite making up to 8 copies of other things. That could just be RNG, I'll have to test more.

Are there any other uniques you can see missing from this picture?

http://i.imgur.com/gFG3NGN.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/gFG3NGN.jpg)

Edit: Did another AoM, for 400 this time, and once again no Jadiim, Reginald or Lord Adam:

http://i.imgur.com/QKX6r7O.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/QKX6r7O.jpg)

Beginning to look like a bug! Can anyone spot any other uniques missing from both screenshots?

Being in Quality Assurance, I can't help but appreciate the mindset that resulted in this report. There is very little reason to play a triple-digit Army of Myth other than to answer the question "I wonder what would happen?" I love it when someone does something crazy just to see what the game does, and I love it even more when they're paying enough attention to notice something small that's going wrong in the resulting chaos, and then even more when they choose to do it all again just to investigate it further.

Took me a little while to find, but my favorite post was one that Chris Woods made in the forums about the delay of Set 3 and explaining what had happened.

Aw, there's something behind me, isn't there? was the first thing what went through my head when I locked the branch for shipping last week. We'd heard a smattering of reports about memory problems, but we couldn't see it internally, and we couldn't show it was happening en masse.

Then an email showed up later Friday, and it was pretty clear we had a major problem. So, I wanted to hop in here and try to explain this whole memory leak thing, and why it was such a big deal -- both to solve as well as to try to figure out.

It all really boils down to how Unity is inherently designed. Unity's core philosophy of what a game "is" can be described easiest as "like Doom". Essentially, a game is a series of unique levels that a player progress through, and Unity's asset system only wants to have things available for the current "level". Once you beat E1M1, Unity unloads that level and loads E1M2. Then you're thrust back into shooting Imps and looking for the BFG.

In TCGs this makes a whole lot less sense. The closest to "levels" we have is different screens. You go to Deck Editor, or Tournaments, or a game. So, we have built into our system that those are "levels".

With that, comes level assets. These are the geometry, textures, sounds, and other rendering bits associated with a level. Once you "leave" a level, you unload that levels assets. Then you load the assets for the new level you're entering, and presto. Since "levels" are "screens" to us, what's happening on the client looks like this:

+-------[Exit Screen]-------+-------[Load Screen]-------+
+---[Unload Assets]---+ . . +---[Load Assets]---+

Normally exiting a screen and unloading it's assets are coupled, but at some point in development we decoupled unloading and loading screens from unloading and loading screen assets. The only requirement for the destination screen was "all the assets are ready before you start rendering".

So what's a "screen asset" (level asset)? Well, basically everything that has to do with rendering cards is in those screen assets. So, that's all of the art ever.

This wasn't really a "problem", per say, except it was really inefficient. Swapping from the Deck Editor to the General Lobby would be very expensive, but it wasn't a "problem".

Well, it was't until that [Unload Assets] bar was longer then that [Exit Screen] bar.

This has actually probably already been a problem for some users with machines slower then the ones we have access to for testing and development, but it just never showed up on our radar. It wasn't until Set 3 and Extended Art made the asset size large enough that we started to see it.

When [Unload Assets] takes longer then [Exit Screen], Mr. [Load Assets] gets into the mix, and believe me, Mrs. [Unload Assets] and Mr. [Load Assets] are not on speaking terms. If the two of them are going at the same time, and we're trying to unload Set 1 while we are also trying to load set 1, it gets crazy.

What ends up happening is [Load Assets] tells [Unload Assets] "Hey, could you, um, stop deleting those cards? Because I'm going to need them." [Unload Assets] does this, but in the most passive-aggressive way possible. It just literally stops. Mid job. Then [Load Assets] has a partial library floating around, and he can't use that. So he loads a new copy.

Nobody ever unloads that partial copy that's left over, though.

So, the guts of the bug are actually pretty simple: If you switch screens and the new screen loads faster then the assets of the old screen take to unload, you end up wasting memory with a partial set of assets the previous screen used.

Every time you switch screens.

Every. Stupid. Time.

Once this was identified, the solution was really, really easy:
- Figure out what assets the leaving screen has the new screen also wants
- Remove those from what [Unload Assets] is going to unload
- Do everything else normally.

The results of finding and fixing this bug have been enormous, actually. Deck Editor is significantly faster now, screen swapping is much smoother, and any time we "flip" a card (eg, pack opening) doesn't really require the asset to be found at the last minute. It's made things a whole lot cleaner.

All because Mr. [Load Assets] and Mrs. [Unload Assets] had a little spat over who was putting away the dishes. Honestly, with that much tension in the relationship, I'm shocked Mrs. [Unload Assets] kept Mr. [Load Assets] last name.

Almost home.

It was a year yesterday. Love her forever.

Not trying to bring this thread down but I didn't want to post this anywhere on it's own.

Some of you may know from chatting in some streams that my daughter had an incurable genetic illness. Her condition finally worsened in the last few weeks and she passed on the 14th and we had her funeral on the 20th. It's been a long 4 years, but our family is finally moving on from the paralysis that was an incurable genetic disease. Here was her obituary.

Olivia Mae Menard was granted her angel wings on April 14th 2015, following a lifelong illness. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Livi had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life. She passed away in her Mommy and Daddy's arms.

Livi's life would seem too short to many but those who knew her understood the quality of her existence far exceeded the quality of time in witch she lived. Her smile brought joy to everyone who saw it and, although she never spoke, her love and happiness could always be heard.

Although Livi's illness left her with many physical and developmental challenges, the strength and courage she possessed gave her an ability to overcome incredible odds. Livi brought happiness to every situation. She loved to rock in her chair, listen to her music box, and most of all, she loved her family. We will miss Livi everyday, but will try our best to remember her greatest lesson: enjoy everyday to the fullest and focus on what's important. Throughout her four years, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be her parents. Livi is survived by her loving parents, Chad and Jen Menard; paternal grandparents Richard and Carolyn Menard; maternal grandparents Jeffery and Suzanne Smith. She is also survived by her paternal great-grandmother Barbara Fairburn; her maternal great-grandfather Lester Hubbard; and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GFPD in honor of Olivia.

There have been a lot of fantastic threads, discussions, and jokes in these forums over the last three years. But by far one of my favorite things was seeing the devs get in on the act. It really made the place feel more warm and familial; it's something you just don't see very often anymore. In particular, I really liked when Chark got in character. Like this time, when he offered us a business opportunity that was too good to pass up.

Is good deal, no?

So… I sink you be looking to part vays vis some gold for precious Stardust, da? Vell, you come to right place. This dust fall off cart. I am villink to part vays vis little of my personal supply. Send 100 gold to HEXChark in ze mail, and name vill be entered for a chance at one of every kind of Startdust rarity. Send 200 gold and you increase your, shall I say, chances at getting Stardust. Go ahead, send much gold as you vant, I not judge.

If I is get 100.000 gold, I vill look in list of “associates” and select four individuals to receive ze precious cargo and all you is get to see spoiled card. If I is get 200.000 gold, number of lucky associates increase to eight….and so on. Ve see. Because of little time I have, this offer only available by two days from now.

Now remember… send that gold to HEXChark and make sure you typed it right. Davai, Davai!

As Stardust is hard to move… please to vait a vhile for delivery. But you trust me. I am businessman. For vhere ze gold flows, I follow… is good for business. To keep honest, I vill let you see how much I made at various intervals, check here: https://www.hextcg.com/charks-stash/

Sanks!

Chark, Hired Horn Elite

Edit: note to any newcomers, this deal is LONG over, don't send Chark your gold. ;)

I thought about hunting down some huge posts from the early days with us all arguing with one another about every little thing but I instead went for the beginning of the journey, at least for me and hex.

http://forums.cryptozoic.com/showthread.php?t=23818

My first thread that started it all.

People can be complete jerks, looking at some of the responses on these forums, that is still holding true. It's pretty much a necessity to consider that in an online community there are going to be bad apples. I can't say that the TCG community as a whole is worse than say the MOBA types, but the possibility is there.

My concerns are twofold:
Is this game being developed with online play in mind, and how it can bring out the worst in people, are there built in tools for dealing with people that are giving you a hard time for whatever reason/ignore lists that also stop you from ending up in random situations(drafts, dungeons) with those people, etc.

Also, are there incentives in place to reward strangers for working well together, especially in PVE.

And my focus never really changed. I've spent the last three years trying to subtly and occasionally not so subtly guide this community and game in a positive direction. I can only hope that in the end my influence has been a positive one.

Edit 1: That zophie post with all the effects ignoring that guy though... that was quality television.

Edit 2:

I agree ducklett, i'm still trying to work out a way to really get some support up for rewarding people for putting their time into that particular project. It's definitely the community at its best.

Some old KS thread trolling done well:

This evening Hex team member HexRex was in the Beta chat and dropped some surprising hints that personally I find pretty controversial.

1) Cory wants to implement some sort of auto-backrub feature? What the frick is this? 100% HexRex did not deny that this may be a feature in the future.

2) Auction House may or may not sell people. Seriously if they sell people I will be quitting the game.

3) Apparently the Hex team has been reading our e-mails that we send to them. Um, does anyone else find this a little f'd up? Invasion of privacy much? I have a huge blog about the Patriot Act I would cut and paste here if IT WASN'T A PRIVATE DOCUMENT.

Also nice one from Yasi:

I put a ton of effort into this one, so I thought I'd bring it up. The hunt for all the puns was fun to watch :)

Will this PVE Plant Deck Take Root?
Stay, men and women, and read of my PVE Plant deck!

If you feel like you've outgrown your typical decks and want to branch out but feel stumped, here's a PVE Plant deck that'll provide relief:

Champion: Elf Cleric

Talents (in order of purchase): Hale, Healing Aura, Aura Aspect: Animation, Aura Aspect: Good Karma, The Righteous Path

2x The Ancestors' Chosen [Head: Crown of the Ancient Kings]
3x Howling Brave
2x Arcane Focus
2x Briarpatch
3x Briarpatch Conjuror [Trinket: Briarpatch Bracelet]
2x Cerulean Mirror Knight
3x Rhythmic Spiritualist [Feet: Spiritualist Sandals: When a troop enters your deck, that troop gets: "When this enters play, draw a card"]
2x Wolsy Wabbit
2x Rites of the Tranquil Dream
2x Dreamsmoke Mystic
3x Plant Garden
3x Titania's Majesty (Flight Gem)
1x Yesterday
3x Balthasar
2x Heart of the Wrathwood

4x Shard of Instinct
13x Wild Shard
8x Sapphire Shard

The inspiration for this deck sprouted from reading the description of Spiritualist Sandals. Seed my deck with cantripping Briar Legions? Yes. Draw an Ancestral Specter with "draw two cards" sporadically? Wow. That equip solves the thorniest problem of my previous Briar deck incarnation: too much sowing not enough reaping, making you feel like you're always pedaling uphill.

Another problem with Briar decks stems from their early tempo deficit due to weak low cost Troops and Constants that need to germinate. Having a guaranteed 3/3 for 3 (at Quick speed) in Soul Vessel ready to ambush an early rush really nips that problem in the bud.

Being able to reliably defend yourself from aggro allows you to cultivate your deck with Briarpatch Conjuror, Ancestors' Chosen, and Rhythmic Spiritualist until it truly blossoms. Use Dreamsmoke Mystic to prune your draw and Titania's Majesty, Arcane Focus, and Rites of the Tranquil Dream to both pluck Troops out of your deck AND to plant them back in, which triggers Rhythmic Spiritualist's equip ability.

My Elf Cleric's low level is soiling my opportunity to unleash this deck's full potential, but that won't erode my enthusiasm. Soon, my PVE Plant deck and I will embark upon an epic quest to farm all that PVE loot!

Jeez. What to pick. The yeti thread? The charity stream thread? The collection of Coyotle signs/Arachnomicon excerpts? One of the many contests we've had on these forums?

Wait, no, I have it. Gwaer's mini forum contest declaration:

That an upcoming PVE card will be perhaps unintentionally paying homage to the true meaning of KB, or at the very least deciboners? Or I suppose more precisely sedeciboners... Anyone want to post the picture of the card in question?

I'll send the first person to throw up the image of that card a set 1 pack.

...which brought to my attention the PVE spoiler we were apparently all waiting for.

I agree ducklett, i'm still trying to work out a way to really get some support up for rewarding people for putting their time into that particular project. It's definitely the community at its best.

I think its very easy to take that kind of stuff for granted, I mean I know I do. I think that the work being done just goes to show how great this community is. There is giving people some commons and helping the new guy (Which is great), but the people taking the time out of their busy lives to transcribe videos so that everyone can enjoy them is just amazing.

Ah, well it is that time again, My Gardallo's have created a new buffalegg, while it is incubating I feel that it is my duty to introduce to you one of the many buffalo of my flock.

Hubertus von buffalo the 17th Lord of the land of Trottinghamshire autocrat of denandsor, heart of the realm. This is not actually a picture of Hubertus, he is a very paranoid buffalo with many decoys strategically placed to keep him from being assassinated. This plan has likely failed numerous times as he has been Lord of the land of Trottinghamshire for 17,000 years. Making him the second longest lived buffalo of all time, or more likely replaced by decoys on many occasions.

This EAP parody right here:

"The Dragon"

Once upon an arena venture, while I sought a card craze quencher,
With rounds of countless tedious games that seemed to be in store,
I so happened to spot a glint, a faint of gold which had me squint,
Eyes a wide I read the print that fortune dictates my screen bore.
With disbelief I stood astounded and read thrice the word it bore.
Uruunaz, and nothing more.

Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
"Finally!" the shout was made whilst my heart again did soar,
"Foul beast, elude me no further, swiftly I shall grant you murder!"
Echoing on every girder my words resembled a dragon's roar.
That fell and foul beast parts its maw, brace I did for its roar.
A silent grin and nothing more.

Long and grim the battle raged, as terrifying as I had gauged,
Victory fleeting as I engaged the shadowy form above the floor.
But the dark one gave no quarter, and my deck was getting shorter,
Last I drew my best supporter praising Kismet that she may adore,
Blessed goddess whose favor granted only to ones she does adore.
'Kill' he played and nothing more.

Startled at my triumph broken by such an oft played blood deck token,
Flabbergasted I was moaning at the loss that shook me to my core.
I had but just drawn my caster, yet his response was ready faster,
This had been a complete Disaster unlike any I had seen before.
My success had fast departed just as many other times before.
My screen, 'Defeat', and nothing more.

"Uruunaz, you thing of evil! Dragon are you but I call thee devil!
Truly Hell has sent thee to torment me for partaking in this chore!
Tell this soul who's braved the miles, if still within his future trials,
Spared of your deceitful guiles but one small query I do implore!
Whilst we meet again once more? This alone I desperately implore!"
Quoth the dragon - "Nevermore."

I'm on to you Loregoyle (http://forums.cryptozoic.com/showthread.php?t=38243)

First you craft the named Necrotic characters with palindromes (Nin, Gozzog, Lixil, Dimmid) and now I finally put the pieces together to see what you're using for the named dragons in the game (Jadiim, Uruunaz, Zakiir, Zeedu).

What other literary easter eggs await us in future sets?

I've always been suspect of Loregoyle as a blood operative in Diamond. Now I watch every card for sneaky naming schemes and easter eggs.

A Oath to Hex

Just a Hex version of the Rifleman's Creed:

Hex Rifleman’s Creed
This is my HexTCG. There are many like it but this one is mine.

My Wild Root Dancer is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.

My Succulent Roostasaur, without bunnies, is useless. Without my Mancubus, I am useless. I must fire my One-Shots true. I must shoot straighter than my enemy who is trying to kill me. I must Burn him before he Persecutes me. I will…

The Mushwocky and I know that what counts in this war are not the Heat Waves we fire, the noise of our Charge, nor the Incantations we make. We know that it is the hit that counts. We will hit..

My Righteous Paladin is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its shield and its hammer. I will keep my Thunderbird clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will…

Before Cory, I swear this creed. My fellow Kickstarters and I are defenders of this Community. We are masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life.

So be it, until victory is HexTCG’s and there is no Magic the Gathering.

Hi HEXers! It’s been a busy week here in the offices post Labor Day weekend. For a general wrap-up, we had a hotfix go out early (whoops) and then we fixed that hotfix with a hotfix. That includes properly implementing the feature where players in the Proving Grounds who use the Play Random Opponent will receive 100 gold when they win their game! So, that’s pretty sweet.

Hello all,

It's been a long time I wanted to post something like that so here it is.

I came to Hex around mid-November of last year (so a bit more than 3 months) after a friend of mine told me he's just won a slot for a tournament with a prize-pool of a PT... I've played MTG for around 10 years, 5 of them competitively, so I was pretty enthusiastic about this "new game that looks like an upgrade of a game I've liked for so long"... Even though it seemed strange to me that I haven't heard about it previously.

Anyway, I've downloaded and played Hex and if we exclude the way too many bugs, I have to say that the game felt awesome to me... Also there were some IQs left, so that was a great incentive to play even more of it.

But now that the IQs are over and since we don't know what's planned and what's not regarding the competitive play/scene, I tend to feel like I'm wasting my time here...
I've been grinding events (DE/PE/MOCS/PTQ/etc) on modo for years but there always was an event to prepare for (QT/GP/PT), there always was a goal to reach, something worthy and something nice to try and obtain, that hundreds of hours of testings would help to achieve.

But let's be a little bit more precise.

To start with, I would like to say that if I am currently writing all my thoughts for you to read, this is only because I feel that the game is great, has a lot of potential and deserve that time of my... In order for it to improve and become the major player it should be.

Anyway, on to the main points.

1) Low player base :

=> Issue : I'm not going to lie on this one, queuing for a draft that might only fire half an hour later always makes me feel like I'm wasting my time and that "nobody play that game anyway"... It is unfortunate but true that the waiting times to play any PVP game is way too long. And since there's too much waiting time, people tend not to bother queuing and here comes the vicious circle.

=> Offered solution : As I said previously, I've been playing TCGs for a decade and not having heard of Hex is somewhat significant of how not enough focus has been put on marketing. I do think that the product is great, but it's not sufficient to have a great product to have a successful business, you also need people to be aware of it... Because otherwise, no matter how good it is, the guys out there won't be buying it since they don't even know it exists in the first place.

2) PVP is dead :

=> Issue : While the fact that the current number of players is low is certainly on obstacle to have a good and living PVP scene, this is not the only issue. Call it how you want, but I would summarize all the things that makes PVP a dead thing as "people are lacking incentives to play PVP".
Yeah I know set 4 is coming (and that will definitely be a relief). I also know that many players like to say that they are "waiting for set4", but is that the only thing ? Isn't that just a part of the problem ? An excuse for them not to play because they simply don't want to (anymore) ?

People tend to be bored easily nowadays, and for sure the waiting time between set3 and set4 has been too big, but what's done is done and I tend to think that if there were other incentives than a new shiny set, people would still play a lot of Hex PVP.
While the draft/sealed format has clearly been solved by many, the constructed format is far from being solved.. We see plenty of new decks every week in gauntlets and 5S. That, let me tell you, would definitely not happen if the players have had put enough efforts in constructed (but I'll come back to that later).
Soooo, people are no longer playing drafts because they are bored of it, and people are not playing constructed to some extent because they are bored of it, but there's stilll a lot of room for improvements and innovations here, so I would say that they tend not to play constructed because they are simply lacking incentives to do so.

=> Offered solution : People have to have something interesting to gain while playing (talking mostly about constructed), they have to have a reason to play... Grinding the points to be able to play in IQs were definitely something like that, but there is room for other incentives to be implemented.
I know that on modo the grinders used to be rewarded by a yearly highly prized tournament for the top100 constructed and the top100 limited (in qualifier points)... Now that would be something that you keep in mind and make you want to play some PVP... You know, that kind of "just doing an event or 2 today and got some points so I'm better placed for the race" feeling people would have.
I've heard people were talking about a HS-like ladder, I think this is clearly bad (at least the way HS does it) and a ranking system based on points earned by doing tournaments like I said would give that impression of laddering without the same feeling as the HS people have to "ladder pointlessly".
The player of the year race as I presented it would be something cool, and would definitely gives more incentives for people to play on a regular basis.

3) Competitive PVP is dead :

=> Issue : Now that the IQs are gone, there is literally no incentive for people to play serious PVP. People will still play it a bit, but casually... You've seen all those fancy decklists ? Yeah I've been playing random decks as well, just because there is no incentive to play seriously, so I joined the bandwagon and brew some crap of mine to "at least have fun, even if the deck is awful".

=> Offered solution : There is no real secrets here, for people to be willing to put the efforts in trying to solve the meta and optimizing their builds, there need to be one or several large (in terms of prices) tourneys to be planned... And I'm not talking about 10k plat, I'm talking about 100k$ tournaments.
While the 5 shards tournaments are fine, they are not competitive tournaments, they are more like FNM where everybody comes for free with whatever they feel like playing and that's it (which is cool for PVE guys that want to softly put themselves into PVP -- but not for people looking for a challenge and prizes).

=> What we actually need is something reliable and planned... Let's say 4 (or more) invitational like tournaments per years with the same prizes, now I am fairly sure that we would be able to get plenty of players (grinders) to come from other TCGs and play Hex... And let me tell you, those guys would not be willing to spend countless hours on PVE to grind their way up, they would come and put the cash on the table to get access straight away to what's better in PVP to playtest with and start preparing for those big bad tourneys.

I am talking about the grinders, those guys are really good clients for TCG because they "pay in advance". They tend not to pay too much after (they will then "go infinite"), but it's balanced by the fact that they are constantly and actively promoting the game and bringing more competitive players.
To sum it up : We need Pro Tour, we need World Championships, we need it big, bad and Shiny.

Finally, the Storm Clouds in Frost Ring Arena massive suicide movement came to an end! They're now safe :)

From Chiron

To Write Storm Cloud on Her Arms!
The suicide rate of Storm Clouds have almost reached an epidemic! Behind closed doors Cloud Kings and Queens have been feeling the elemental pain of this growing trend.

This issue became personal for me when I was fighting the Seaweed Behemoth in the Frost Ring Arena and a Storm Cloud appeared. Instead of birthing Stormlings like every Storm Cloud should, this one immediately sacrificed itself. I was so overcome by grief I failed my arena run. It is so easy to point fingers or blame ourselves when this happens. Instead we need to spread the word and get these Storm Clouds the help they need.

The CDC, Coyotle Disease Control, has been tracking elemental suicide data over the last two years. According to the Stormcaller’s guide of suicide prevention:

• Suicide is the 7th leading cause of death of Storm Clouds in Entrath in 2015. 1st are Crocosaurs, 2nd are Crackling Bolts, 3rd are Vampire Kings, 4th are Vampire Princesses and 5th are Angels of Dawn. (CDC)
• The suicide rate has increased from from 4.8 suicides per 100,000 in 2014 to 18.7 suicides per 100,000 in 2015. (This is almost an epidemic!) Every day, approximately 412 Storm Clouds die by suicide.
• There is one Storm Cloud death by suicide in Entrath every 3.5 minutes. (CDC)
• Depression affects 20-25% of Elementals in a given year. (CDC)
• Suicide takes the lives of over 38,000 Storm Clouds every year. (CDC)
• Only half of all elementals experiencing an episode of major depression receive treatment. (NAMI)
• 80% -90% of elementals that seek treatment for depression are treated successfully using therapy and/or medication. (TADS study)
• An estimated quarter million elementals each year become suicide survivors (AAS).
• There is one suicide for every estimated 25 suicide attempts by Storm Clouds. (CDC)

You can help by spreading the word of this bug and under-spoken tragedy.

Use only Storm Cloud Sleeves, and declare “To Write Storm Cloud on her arms!” to other Entrathians to spread the word.

Together we can change this bug!

I just loved that thread... http://forums.cryptozoic.com/showthread.php?t=48574

Speaking of realism, do the sleeves slowly accrue debris and get slightly sticky causing them to stick to the card below them?

And more importantly, does the deck shuffler accidentally sometimes slide one sleeve inside another causing it to split down the side?

If I move cards around in my hand can it make a sound that my opponent can hear? *Thwit* *thwit* *thwit* *thwit* *thwit* *thwit*

This one from Chris Woods on Mr. [Load Assets] and Mrs. [Unload Assets]

Chris Woods

Lyrics:

I ain't sniping, you’re playing bad
I got angels in my hand
I’m shardless but not for long
My victory is coming on
I ain't sniping, you’re playing bad
I got angels in my hand
I’m shardless but not for long
My victory is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on

Finally someone shifted me some more rage
Now, bane for me is nothing cause I'm counting no eggs
Naw there couldn't be wards
No I don’t need more shards
I'm good with my cards
And he let down his guard
Unbelievable
Bet you didn't think I’d counter that one too
I’m bouncin all your dudes, Look I got a Time Ripple for you
Pick which troops
You wanna lose
Or your whole damn brood
Arachnid noobs
Who you think is really playing boons?
Imagine you goin' down in a turn or two
Like I’d let you choose
You think it’s possible?
Probable? Maybe.
Possibly
A champion who will fight for you to clear these dudes when you're too lazy
Lifedrain
Play these diamond actions for that life gain
You like pain
That’s Good because I put on the swiftstrike shift
You tried it?
Paladin’s Righteous with one youth
Your Psychic Torment used
defeats you when I’m through

I ain't sniping, you’re playing bad
I got angels in my hand
I’m shardless but not for long
My victory is coming on
I ain't sniping, you’re playing bad
I got angels in my hand
I’m shardless but not for long
My victory is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on

Your deck looks so basic
What site did you take it
Allow me to play this
card here called Nature
Reigns
You don’t know what to do that’s a tragedy.
I'm winning
Every Wrathwood tree
Every Ardent priest
Every Shin’hare sees
You say your good byes
I play Extinction and he cries
Resurrection for my guys
With this cat I’ll Mesmerize
Now you’re sucked into my lies
Through Reese, not for his tunnels but the robots he provides
A quick Ambush Guide
Y'all can GG now cuz you can’t block with your guy
Your Conflict with your mind
(That's the Inner)
So I'mma stick around with Reese and Zophie Winters
Mastery of Time so you always will remember what Onslaught is
I rekt all this
So you can survive when a topdeck’s hopeless
Myrym will show you troops you thought was dead
No raging, remember that it's all in your deck

I ain't sniping, you’re playing bad
I got angels in my hand
I’m shardless but not for long
My victory is coming on
I ain't sniping, you’re playing bad
I got angels in my hand
I’m shardless but not for long
My victory is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My victory is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My victory is coming on
It's coming on
It's coming on
My victory

It also had an awesome video with it - another Zophie special!

I don't have a link handy, but I think my favoutrite post was the announcement of Exalted. Ever since that I have dreamed of earning my way there (even though it is already clear to me I won't.) Instead though, I get to see and hear more about the people that deserve the status - Colin was clearly a no brainer so we can skim over him for now, and Cirouss had a lot going (he was assisting Gameforge in some way, helped host both charity streams, streamed most days for the community) - I am a little cheesed off that he still isn't back from his break though.

It doesn't feel right to have one half of our exalted team gone during all the milestones we have passed recently, so I hope set 4 lures him back for good. Also looking forward to seeing his vanity card in-game, didn't see it in any of the spoilers so far.

I need to find the "fake update" made by (if memory serve me well) Counter.. That one was really fun, I think it was before set 3 release.. It even started with a "HELLO HEXERS " XD

You mean this one here (https://forums.cryptozoic.com/showthread.php?t=38141&page=2&p=413884&viewfull=1#post413884)?:

Hi HEXers!

We have a few exciting announcements and some updates on things we've been working on and what you can expect over the coming months.

The VIP tournament is just around the corner and we're really excited to see which of the super slow control decks reign supreme and whether Induction Coil makes a surprise meta-busting appearance. Our engineers are working hard to get the AA cards to you sometime in October so be sure to buy VIP in-game next week (last last time we offer this, promise..maybe).

The transition to the new Unity engine is going smoothly and we're eager to implement the UI improvements you've been asking us for the past year - like moving the threshold dice moving from the left to the right!

Set 2 is in the final stage of production, just a handful of pesky cards left to code in - but as you know these take more time than the rest of set 2 and set 1 combined to implement. We're aiming for an end of November release so you can spend Thanksgiving filing bug reports.

Last week we introduced Hogarth, Keeper of the Frost Ring and due to popular demand we'll be selling coasters in his honor. They'll be available through Alibaba so keep an eye out for that.

We're hoping to hit open beta soon.. aw heck, who're we kidding, we've pretty much been in open beta since like forever now.

Finally, we've decided to scrap Double-Backs. In light of the NSA and privacy concerns, we feel this is a positive move for the game.

The team continues to work on PvE, arena, crafing, guilds, raids, keeps, might system, mercenaries, smart AI, and a bunch of other stuff. We're working with some life insurance companies to allow you to get your KS pledges back if you decease before the game's full release - as always, we make things right for our customers.

Since you've made it this far, here's a spoiler from Set 42, Shards of Hate:

Attachment 2296

Feel free to discuss this article, suggestions ideas and proposals over on our forums - the team could always use a good laugh.

I've been enjoying my time on earth so far, but my biggest complaint has to be the temperature of the Sun. It's too hot. I mean it gets up to around 27 MILLION degrees Fahrenheit. I mean it seems pretty ridiculous. Nothing else can really compete with that kind of heat generation.

Right now, if you want to heat something quick, the argument will always devolve to, "Why not just use the Sun?" Other types of heat generation can't compete. That's why I think CZE should lower the temperature of the Sun by at least 20 or 30 degrees. We need more choice and variety in our heat generation and the Sun is currently too efficient to make those other choices worthwhile.

I really think this will be better for us as a whole and I hope CZE will at least explore the idea.

I decided to go with a quote from Cory:

When I was in charge of licensing at Blizzard I would get AT LEAST one call a week from a random Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream shop, always with the same question... "can we put this ORC picture on 12 year old Jimmies Birthday ice cream cake?" I of course would HAVE to say... "no, we cannot authorize the use of our IP for Jimmies birthday ice cream cake" BUT if Jimmies MOM had done the image on the cake what would have happened? Would the cops show up to the party? or would everyone have just enjoyed delicious ORC flavored ice cream cake... no harm no foul, as a fan you can skirt some of this stuff if its one time use and just for you... unless I catch you personally! then I will throw your birthday cake on the ground! To our family of HEX supporters…

I have been chasing a dream for the last three years, a dream to produce an innovative trading card game: a game that combines the strategy of a TCG with the community and progression of an MMO. Something amazing and new, something you would love. We presented that dream to you, our community, and you responded with such mind-blowing support to help us launch HEX.

Sadly, the potential of that innovation has driven WOTC to file a meritless lawsuit in an attempt to kill a competitor before it delivers on that promise. HEX has a chance to give gamers a better and completely different experience from a digital-only TCG than a paper TCG can. Sometimes being small and independent makes you seem like an easy target to the bullies, and that’s not an easy place to be, but rest assured we are ready to defend the dream.

Yes, WOTC, and its even larger parent, Hasbro, are much bigger than Hex Entertainment. But the size of their bank accounts doesn’t make them right, and we will fight to deliver the game that you supported throughout this journey. We will not allow this frivolous legal action to damage our ability to deliver a quality game experience to you.

I appreciate the outpouring of support on our forums and I can understand the need to speculate on the specifics of the case. Clearly, I cannot address these posts in detail, but rest assured we have retained legal counsel that is very experienced in these types of matters and I feel 100% confident in a positive outcome for HEX. I will say that it’s important for the HEX community to remember we are all part of the same tribe. We are all gamers, so even if someone isn’t into HEX, please treat them with kindness and respect. We must all stick together as a tribe; gamers have it hard enough as it is without tearing each other down.

I will not allow the dream we shared as a community to be crushed. You believed in me, made the Kickstarter an amazing success, and stuck by us as we slogged through the alpha client. It is unfortunate that this hurdle has been thrust upon us. But, we will prevail; we have come too far to let the dream die now.

Lastly, I must ask that you respect the obligations of the HEX team members during this time and direct all questions or comments to myself and legal at legal@hextcg.com. We will read all inquires but remember that because of the nature of this situation we may not be able to respond at this time. But, we will continue to keep all of you, our fans and support, apprised of the developments as we have strived to do so from the very beginning.

Thank you,

Cory Jones and HEX team

And ofc the best reply under his post

Hi Everybody! Brynhildr here with a contest that I think you guys will like.
During the Hex Raid stream, I won a code that was good for 1 copy of every card in set 1. Seeing as I literally only needed 1 of those cards, I decided I would donate everything back into the community.

What are the Trials of Entrath?
The Trials of Entrath is a flavorful contest that gives you multiple ways to win cards. Each trial consists of three separate challenges with different requirements to earn various cards based on the theme of the trial. Each challenge must be completed in order. (You must complete Bronze, then Silver, and then finally Gold.)

[. . .]

(Full post and thread here (http://forums.cryptozoic.com/showthread.php?t=40521).)

I love this post as just one example of the amazing community Hex has. Not only did this person want to (literally) give back the amazing prize they received to the community, they took the time and effort to craft an incredibly imaginative contest to do so.

(Speaking of which, thanks for creating this contest to remind us of so many significant / funny / etc. moments in Hex's history!)

On a more personal note, I love my guild and this post is what helped clinch it's name:

So schools out and apparently I have too much time on my hands, but I wrote something up. I'm not a good writer, but this was kind of fun. Once again I put in my vote for the Unnamed Council. Without further ado, hope you enjoy.

All across Entrath, the trembles ripple. In the south a man buys an artifact from an elven merchant, the item is never seen or spoken of again. In the north two feudal lords resign their borders, a closer look at the map shows a small sliver of land unaccounted for. 100 miles beneath them a brilliant dwarf researcher on the edge of a breakthrough suddenly disappears, all his research gone with him. If you look hard enough you can see it everywhere, the touch of our hand, the pull of our string.

Who are we you ask? We are the Unnamed Council. And why are we Unnamed? To name us is to give us identity, to put you closer to those who pull your string, to lessen the awe. However, our goals are too important, with too much at stake. Entrath silently boils, ready to erupt, on the brink of all-out war. Even this pales in comparison with the greater threat on the horizon.

Hex hangs in the sky, a source of magic, hope and fear. No one knows more than the Unnamed Council of the true purpose, and the true threat Hex represents. We are what stand between Entrath destruction and it's salvation. It is our subtle manipulations that prepares Entrath for troubled times that even it is barely aware of. Entrath will be prepared, and she won't even know why.

Fear us or revere us, either is an appropriate response, but it is best if you forgot us. Best if you go to your bed, and sleep silently in your ignorance. Forget that your every action is but a small piece of our plan. That your destiny and the destiny of all of Entrath is in our hands.

Sleep, Entrath, sleep and dream, ignorant that those dreams will be protected. Protected by the pullers of strings, the manipulators of destiny, the true guardians on Entrath.

Protected by the Unnamed Council.

If they add cash prizes for big tournaments this game will live a long an prosperous life. As soon as players see the opportunity of getting some money out of their investment, they will stick with it for a long time. Of course the game needs to be fun as well, but I trust the guys at CZE that it will be fun.

In fact the whole reason i initally joined the forums, was to participate in the lore section. While i went into other places later when i got more comfortable here, this was still my favorite place to lurk. I look forward to finding a new home, in the new lore section. ^_^

So the piggies did not qualify? Actually they are getting fat now really fast and they are producing half of their bodyweight everey day as little "pellets". At least it looks like that much...

Where do Shin'haere put all their pellets to? They could build their huts out of it or fuel their fire ;)

While at work as a parking lot cleaner, I found some persons lost letter addressed to the Illinois State Police, Highway Dept. The real start of the Buffalo saga, RIP Fetid Buffalo!

When presented with an opportunity to spoil a card I turned down the legendary offered to me, and instead requested this card. When I was at the HXE office last time it was right before the set 2 launch, we got to see a good bit of what was coming with set two, but I also got to playtest a bit of set three that they were developing. I saw this guy, and I saw they had named the set 2 one rotting, even though set 1 was rigid... So I spent a good several minutes. Maybe half an hour looking up a potential different word for rotting, for set 2, and settled on fetid, which worked very well with the art I thought. Unfortunately it was just too close to release of set two and it was already being localized, so they didn't have time to change rotting to fetid. Even though I suggested just keeping it localized the same in all other languages and just have fetid be the English name, I pushed very hard... Maybe I should have offered to pay to have rotting buffalo re-localized. Heck I even felt this was an important enough issue to delay set two for. =P

Sadly, and to my eternal shame this is where I failed you as a community. If I had been at the CZE offices a week earlier, then this tragedy could have been averted. Without further ado... Here it is.... The proof of my inability to conquer the most important and terrible problem of our time. Rip - Fetid Buffalo, your glory was never realized.

First thing that popped into my mind as one of the most entertaining posts -

If you're worried about the ToS and require further assistance with understanding it, you will need to seek your own legal council.

This feels like a winner (it's on par with the zophie gifs.) I wonder who else will get a win? Crazy good entries so far.

I'm going with the PvE Deck Teir Guides by Nicosharp. Thanks for your work on PvE decks nicosharp! :)

Tierlist Categories:

God Tier = Perfect Score - 9 Threshold out of 9 Threshold Deck:
Tier 1 = 8 Threshold Requirement
Tier 2 = 7 Threshold Requirement
Tier 3 = 6 Threshold Requirement
Tier 4 = 5 Threshold or lower.

Rating Categories and Scaling:
We use a newly developed category system called:
(C)(A)(P)(E)(S), for "Superhero" decks = Consistent Affordable Perfect Easy Speed decks.
(P)+(C)+(S) = Decks' tier score, for Tierlist placement.
(A)+(E) = Decks' player friendly score, for player consideration

For each Category there is 1-3 scaling:
3 Threshold = best
2 Threshold = good
1 Threshold = not good

(P)=Perfect = How unlikely are you to lose a single encounter?
3 Threshold = 80% or more 15/15 runs are perfect
2 Threshold = 50%-79% 15/15 runs are perfect
1 Threshold = 49% or less 15/15 runs are perfect

(C)=Consistency = How often does the deck make it to, and clear the tier4 boss?
3 Threshold = 90% or more 15/15 runs clear the tier4 boss
2 Threshold = 75%-89% 15/15 runs clear the tier4 boss
1 Threshold = 74% or less 15/15 runs clear the tier4 boss

(S)=Speed= How fast is the deck at clearing the arena? (Speed will vary with PC's, but this should be a general rule of thumb - for example - the Dream deck would be a 2, and a quash rush deck would be a 1.)
3 Threshold = 30 minutes or less per 15/15 run clear
2 Threshold = 45 minutes-31 minutes per 15/15 run clear
1 Threshold = 46 minutes or more per 15/15 run clear

The two categories below are important, but carry no weight for the decks' tierlist score.

(A)=Affordable = How affordable is the deck to build?
Note: Focusing on hard to obtain cards outside of the F2P PvE experience.
3 Threshold = Less than $20 to build (not including freely farmed PvE cards)
2 Threshold = $20-$100 (not including freely farmed PvE cards)
1 Threshold = Over $100 (not including freely farmed PvE cards)

(E)=Easy = How easy is the deck to play?
3 Threshold = Very easy to play
2 Threshold = Some unique interactions you need to remember / somewhat easy
1 Threshold = Fairly difficult to play, lot of interactions / not easy

__________________________________________________ ____
Is there a deck you would like to add to the list?
Requirements to add/suggest a deck be added to the list = 4 Lines post:

"Deck Name", "By: (Deck Creator)", "# runs completed" (Should be a deck you've played at least 5 times, with fair recollection of), "(Your Name - Date)"
Link to Decklist (Preferred on HEXTCGBROWSER - so folks can sync with collections to see what they are missing)
#P + #C + #S = # Tier Threshold / #A + #E = # Consideration Threshold
Deck Note: (1 line note about deck/when it was made)

Do you have updates or tweaks you would like to suggest to a deck-list posted here? Do you have varying results, or disagree with any tier placements? Do you have any suggested improvements for the rating system/wording for rating system? Please let us know. This list is meant to be a dynamic living bar to help both new and older players gauge deck effectiveness.
