    What's the pick? #1

Foreword: So now that draft is in I'm hoping to start making videos again. I plan to use this pick for a video. This thread however isn't really meant for self promotion or anything like that. I'm genuinely interested to know what people think of the pick and maybe just spurn more interesting discussion in general.

Alright so this is what I opened earlier today, I wound up with quite a powerful deck though it was a little clunkier than I'd have liked. I'll hold off on saying what my actual pick was until others have had the chance to chime in... but I'd like to know what you guys think.

I will say that I didn't pick the best card, but I did so knowingly and just wanted to try testing a plan out. On that note, maybe the pack is just WAY more straightforward than I thought. Also, that time you're saying, "How did card X make it to the 7th pick... packs like these are why you see first pickables so late."

There are quite a few cards in here that I would be totally happy first picking.

Unless you're forcing a particular deck type like Dwarves or Sapphire fliers, I can't see you first picking anything but Gore Feast. It's a game ender.

Holy crap that's a nice pack. So many good picks. I'd go with Feast or Murder I suppose.

So after having gore feast in my deck a second time now I have to say that it is the stone cold nuts. It is always the first pick, there's never going to be a better card in the pack...

This post isn't nearly as interesting as a result, but say that perhaps instead it was a Shrewd Manipulation. Then it becomes a bit more interesting, so many options. Really though whatever you pick is going to be a strong choice. I think it comes down to what are you hoping to wheel and then basing your pick somewhat around that as well as personal preference.

Whilst I don't disagree you are shipping Pyromancer and Elimination Specialist (both are very good) and will be putting your neighbours into Ruby for competition in pack 2, which might make the pick the murder. Diamond Blood can pick up a ton of removal and sorrow is one of the most under-rated cards in the format right now (hits chargebots, dwarfs, pyromancers and so much more).
The murder keeps you more open, as single blood threshold over the double ruby of Gorefeast.
With all this in mind (I respect the Gorefeast- fantastic card) but if it were me I would be taking the murder from this pack.

I havent found gore beast that 'bomby'. Unanswered by a spell yeah its hard to beat in combat depending on the deck. The 5 cost though allows flier decks to out tempo him. Usually I'd go with MTG rules and do B.R.E.A.D meaning I'd take murder here since there's no bomb.

But #ThisIsn'tMagic. From what I've seen so far in HEX draft. Greed and synergy is rewarded along with sapphire fliers. But lets focus on greed and synergy in this pack. I would be tempted by (2/1 minor slot. Gets +1/+1 when atking) and Elimination specialist. So far dwarves is underdrafted so taking the elimination specialist is an investment I would risk. The the 2/1, giving spellshield on that guy along with pump/permanent pump can be just gg. Many decks can't answer a spellshielded troop, althouhg wild isn't underdrafted. So personally I'd decide if I'm feeling dwarves or wild, in this case I feel wild. So I'd take the 2/1 and plan on wheeling honeycup in my monogreen Kishimoto deck.

If you want to play it safe go murder imo. But if you're feeling lucky consider elimination specialist or the 2/1. Both are supported by champions so I personally don't find them that risky of picks.

I can't see any reason not to pick Gore Feast even if it's 2-3 pack and you are not running ruby. You never want to see it against you

Though, if it wasn't there - I would probably pick a Skirmisher and try to force the wild-sapphire to give it flight. I really love this combination...

    This pack is pretty sweet!

I like Gore Feast but have found that if you can win with the extra attack step then you were going to win the game on the following turn anyway. In the dozen drafts that I've done so far, three of them I've won on the backs of Dwarves. I'd take the Elimination Specialist from this pack and not think twice about it.

After that, I'd start looking for artifact troops and a lot of dwarven synergy. Bertram works well with a very large number of cards.

I do also want to point out that all 15 cards in this pack are more than playable. I wouldn't fault anyone for taking any of the following cards first pick: Specialist, Gore Feast Skirmisher, Thunderbird, Pyromancer, Murder.

Out of those, I think that the Specialist has the highest upside.

I don't like the new mutate and don't see it making the cut very often.
