Discord - Hex Community Voice and Text chat Server

I wanted to throw this out there, as our guild has recently transitioned to Discord, and I am loving it.

I don't think you need to repurpose a server for this. You can just create another one via Discord. It's free anyway.

While it's an interesting idea, I'm not entirely sure how useful it would be outside of small groups of friends or guildmates.

Discord pretty much handles all that on their end. Only thing is you need some admins/mods to keep people from being stupid.

Really depends on what you want out of it. I'm in several Discord servers already but each has its own structure.

To be fair, I don't think opening up a server to an entire community consisting of hundreds of players is a great idea for a voice chat server.

Thanks Kami. That's the type of feedback I need/want. I'll hold off on doing anything myself until more feedback is provided.

Hex already has an official forums, and in game chat. That pretty much covers everything outside of voice chat. As Kami has already stated an open ended Hex chat server would easily become rather chaotic.
On the other hand, Individual guilds hosting their own voice chat is a really cool thing.

A little bit off-topic, but I've always liked the idea of being a lone ranger. Now I'm not so sure.
.... I think it is finally time for me to consider joining a guild.

    Hex Discord Channel

Been thinking of making this for awhile, saw other people saying they want one as well.

    Download the client here: https://discordapp.com/

Add our channel with this invite link: https://discord.gg/0t9RpqjqDwBK0Ify

Still need to flesh out some of the settings, so work in progress. But should be good in a few hours, join up~

I've been prepping one in the background as well. I think the largest benefit I am seeing from communicating with other folks about it, is how great the text-based chat channels are. You can have very precise text-based chats for trading and other help topics, and they will date back as far as you want to look in-case you missed something said. Voice-chat is an added benefit for real-time communication.

Can we chat a bit before publicly endorsing a server? This is a pretty big endeavor.

Discord definition: 1. a disagreement between people. 2. lack of harmony (between notes sounding together). I'd rather see in game options or Skype.

Besides a dictionary definition, if you haven't given the app a chance, you should check it out. It's quite great.

I think it's pretty cool and perfect for a team/guild. How it'll work out with tons of people though I don't know. I'm interested though.
