View Full Version : Designation of PvE/PvP card

I haven't been able to tell but is there a designation on each card as to whether it is PvE or PvP?
I am sure the system will have them sorted accordingly, but it's difficult to know which of these spoiled cards are available for PvP.

I think the color of the symbol in the bottom that designates rarity also designates pvp or pve, but I'm not sure.

From what I've seen:

White/Green/Blue/Orange is Booster pack rarity, e.g PvP.
Red is PvE
Gray is "Token", generated by the game

OP_Kyle gave the colors, but I think he got Orange and Red backwards, I think Red is the "promo" color, so all those PvE Exclusive Kickstarter cards are that color.

White = Common
Green = Uncommon
Blue = Rare
Red = Legendary
Orange = Promo

Found this in another thread. Guess PvP/PvE isn't relevant?

PE vs PvP is going to be VERY relevant. I'm sure there will be some way to tell.

I was wondering the same thing. After looking through everything that's been previewed so far, it seems that red is the designation for PVE-only cards. All of the kickstarter exclusives use it, as well as a few of the non-exclusives that have been previewed (such as both cards shown here (http://hextcg.com/hex-and-violence/)). The one anomaly is The Wrath of Zakiir, which is gray for some reason (the color usually reserved for tokens and card evolutions), but maybe it's just a mistake.

There is also a grey border on the right side of some cards, but that can be seen on both PvP and PvE cards on the rewards page.

There will be card numbers on the final card images. Most likey that's where any relevant information will be.

For equipment, red is consistently legendary, and the other colours match up as well. Weird.

Nevermind, looks like I'm wrong. I was thinking all the red rarity spoiled cards had been Kickstarter only PvE cards, but Ozawa and Gabriel seen here are also red:

And all the orange cards I've seen so far are the PvP Alternative art, but this video shows the normal versions of Replicator's Gambit (blue rarity) and Pack Raptor (red rarity, I was really hoping it'd be more common). I for some reason didn't think the alternative art would change the card's rarity level, which in hindsight is quite silly.

Yeah, that's kind of weird. So maybe orange is just used for alternate art. If that's the case, then it's possible both PVE and PVP cards use the same rarity colors. If the equipment that drops in dungeons can have rarities then it stands to reason that the cards would as well. It's also possible that since the card previews are mock-ups, things will change before beta. I definitely think there needs to be a clear way to distinguish PVE from PVP cards at a glance. I'm sure the in-game collections will automatically separate them while deck building, but until then it would be helpful to know if the cards being previewed are ones we can expect to use in PVP or not.

Is it possible that it's card-types that are designated, rather than some of every kind of card? I'd imagine actions, troops and other spells/permanents are good for both formats. But Champions would only be of use in PvP, since you use your own created avatar/class/race guy in PvE.... and they've said equipment isn't used in PvP, so that would be PvE only....

I've not seen any previews where they talk about the regular (meaning reminding you of MtG) cards being divided up. The only time I've heard "can't be used" is when talking about the newer, RP-related, cards.... Or I could be way off base.

Champs are in PvP, and PvE if I remember correctly, at least mercenaries, and certain troops and spells have been confirmed PvE only - I think the double back will show which is which.

Usually alternate art cards are treated as promo. This is nice because if you haven't seen the regular edition of the card you know you're looking at the alternate.

The PvE cards will have a symbol in the collector's information area to denote (and easily identify) they are from PvE. This is just missing from the current screenshots. They will have regular rarities as well.

Rarities are correct, PvE only will be a stamp or something while browsing collection

It looks like they've updated the cards, and now the PvE cards have a symbol indicating them as such:

The little orange shape (what is that? A mask? A skull? A Rorschach test?) to the left of the rarity.

Looks like a bra.

Think it is meant to represent a monster head (PvE = monsters usually.)
